So I'm driving to work yesterday and I keep hearing a high pitched rattling under HRNT somewhere. I work nights so after work I pull in the garage and start investingating. Here is what i find, there is a bracket above the tail pipe. It has 2 thin steel arms attched to it, the bracket itself is plastic. The arm attached to the bracket is broken and hitting the tail pipe, hence the rattle. What is this bracket holding together? Is it vitally important to the safety of HRNT? Any advice is appreciated. I think this may have happened from doing some light mudding earlier in the week.

That is the hanger bracket for your tailpipe. If you have access to a welder it can be re-attached to the tail pipe. On a temp basis you can use some tie-wire thru the rubber isolator to hold up the tail pipe.

Ok, where should the bracket be? Up on top, with the wire around the bottom of the tail pipe? I have no access or know how to the welding option.

If you look at the other half of the bracket on the tail pipe you should be able to match it up. Without access to a welder I would suggest having a muffler shop weld and reinforce it.

I'd suggest getting it fixed sooner than later. That could cause a lot more damage and money upstream if it's left like that.

Thanks Ron, I did wire it up but I am planning on taking it to a shop as soon as possible.
