2000 TJ Sport 4” lift 35” tires
Problem: Steering wheel is bouncing at 30-40 mph.
I have searched and searched. I’ve checked everything and I cant solve it.
So earlier this year I upgrade to a 4” lift and 35” from a 2” lift with 31”. Everything was good. No issues whatsoever. However, I didn’t like how much TC skid plate was dropped. So I decided to install an SYE and DC rear shaft. Also got UCA front and back to correct pinion angles. Also installed adjustable front track bar. Rear track bar had a relocation mount.
Here’s my issue, when accelerating, as soon as I get to around 30 mph, the steering wheel starts to bounce and will keep bouncing until around 40 mph. The harder the acceleration the more it bounces. If I push the clutch in, it goes away.
What I’ve done so far to diagnose and results.
Balanced tires, switch them front to back. No change.
Checked all motor mounts. Transmission mounts. No change.
Took off front driveshaft. No change.
Took off rear driveshaft. Bounce disappeared.
Contacted driveshaft company and they sent me a new driveshaft. Installed new driveshaft and it’s bouncing at same speed range.
Raised the rear, took off wheels and ran to 30-35 mph. Bounces on steering wheel.
I contacted the company again.
At this point, my plan is to get a different company driveshaft. Put that on and see if the bounce goes away.
Am I missing something? Anyone ever experienced this?
