I just finished up the rebuild and JB SS SYE install on a spare NP231 I picked up on Facebook. Couple of random dumb questions:
- Would it be a bad idea to fill it with fluid now (I capped the breather) to check for leaks before I install on? Bonus points for not having up get messy doing it later after installed.
- Did I already miss the boat for installing one of those fancy pants clear sight glasses to keep an eye on the fluid level and condition?
- This one will be hard to say with any certainty, but reference drive shaft length, would going from a standard SYE to a SS SYE be enough of a dramatic difference in length that I couldn't even daily drive it for a week or two while I wait on a new shaft from Tom Woods to show up? Not sure how much spline is usually left. I think the difference between the SYEs is about 3"?
Thanks all!
