Last year I replaced the faded top on my TJ with a SuperTop NX.

Annoyingly yesterday when I went to put my top back on (weather in the UK having started to get chilly, and I had a 75 mile drive to do on a 50 degree morning) I found I was missing the pin at the corner of the door surround which should clip the frame to the door surround for the sunrider feature.

I've emailed Bestop about getting a replacement. No doubt shipping to the UK will cost more than the part. I am guessing the circlip came off. Is this a common failure? It's annoying…

If they won’t ship to UK I’ll have to ask a friend in the US to take delivery then re ship, I guess.

This one (this is the one I still have!)

I hear of it happening occasionally. Mine are still in place thankfully…

If you need someone here to ship it to the UK for you just let me know. I am more than happy to help…

That’s really kind, thanks - I have a friend in Connecticut who will probably help out but I’ll ask if I’m stuck.

I have lost one also, and the other side almost worked itself loose and fell off but I caught it just in time. I wonder if they had a run of defective ones or something. They did send me a replacement free of charge and I glued the other one in place.

Post a pic of the entire pinl. Maybe we can make a suggestion for an alternative.
Checked my TrekTop NX and the pin looks different…

Auto reply from Bestop best summarised as ‘we’re busy, so don’t hold your breath'. Hopefully not too long a wait… especially as the UK autumn ('fall') is a great time to use the sunrider and back window rolled.

Just like this in fact, which is where I am at this very moment at a gliding competition…

I know it’s a hack job, but can’t you run some wire through the pivot point to secure the arm? Or use a bolt and nut? Can’t be that difficult to rig something that will hold.

Unless I want to use the sunrider at high speed it’s unnecessary anyway, as the front latches hold it closed and at low speed the Velcro on the windows does the same job. I think I got up to 30mph without any problems yesterday. Just annoying and limiting.

It took me a long while to get bestop to send me some replacements. I have a spare one if you can cover shipping.

Pleased to say the replacement part (and a spare) arrived from Bestop today, free of charge, shipped internationally.

I need a warm dry day to install as it needs the top folding back and my garage isn’t high enough, but hopefully I can do it on Saturday.

Good customer service, to be fair.
