A sub will also offload the lower frequencies from the main speakers, there is no comparison for a system with a sub versus one without. I listen to rock music and it still makes a world of difference for a full sound. I dont know the model numbers but Sony has a few head units with Class D amps built in that look pretty good as far as providing CLEAN power.
So update. I just got time finally to put in my new speakers and they sound night and day difference than before! I think i'm still going to eventually get a sub and an amp but for the moment it sounds really good!

To clear your radio settings... hit the lower button on the left below the phone icon, then scroll to AUDIO SETTINGS and press the volume knob.
There you can clear out all the enhancements (Bass Boost, Loudness, Spatial, etc.) by turning them to zero or off and start over again...
I have two pairs of Polks here on my shelf... I installed them and they were decent - but I later upgraded with Alpine Rs.... the Alpine's have a bit better overall sound and are better with bass sounds, but the Alpines also require a bit more power.
I actually installed a 4 channel Sound Stream Amp (purchased thru Crutchfield) along with new Kicker 5 1/4" upgrades in dash (with bracket), and 6/5" Soundstreams in the Soundbar and a custom sub box I built for rear with two-8" Soundstream Subs and topped it off with an Alpine Bluetooth head unit, the system totally rocks and with top down for summer, its a rocking sound machine! Completed full install myself.
Thinking about adding one of the compact subs from either Kicker, Pioneer, Kenwood, or Alpine and putting in it my rear seat (similar to what Rob did).
Will I need a small amp to adequately power all of this?
I'm not that experience with car audio work but used to IT-type wiring so I think I'll be able to figure it out.
