I tell that to everybody either just before or after I fart/burp camping.
Thoughts on exhaust noise

I personally like it loud enough that I can hear the rpm with music on to help rev match and shift smoothly. I also like it loud when giving her the beans but quiet enough to not upset passengers or bystanders.
I spent $50 on some 2.5" straightpipe and a section of flexpipe, clamps and couplings.
I unbolted the oem muffler and hollowed out the catlytic converter with a 5lb sledge and bar. Ran the motor to clear the debris. Some platinum and fiberglass came out. That's then basically a resonator, which will still be loud but help eliminate rasp and keep the tone lower. All 6 cylinder motors I do exhaust on I use a resonator and open chamber type muffler. (secret i learned from my 4.3 engine which all sound terrible usually)
Next I cut the flange off the old muffler and welded it onto straightpipe so it could be removed again if needed. Next I clamped the flex pipe to that to accommodate for the muffle inlet/outlet offset, then used a coupling to connect the axle back.
Welded all the couplings up at the end.
It will backfire if Im driving hard near WOT and shifting, but quiet at idle and lower RPMs. People love it on the trail, and deer turn and run when Im coming down the highway haha. But its not too bad since the axle back is still hooked up. Most get lazy and dump it halfway.
Since I basically just did this same thing ill post a video here shortly maybe with the result

Im not really looking to make it a fart can, just something that people can tell theres an exhaust upgrade. Honestly i do think rumble is better then being loud so thats where im trying to find something in the middle. I was looking at a MBRP cat back exhaust but i just want something more throaty.

Agreed and thats my dilemma is wheres a nice middle ground between the 2.Rumble is definitely cooler than loud

I don't know about young, but a properly configured exhaust system will sound like an eargasm no matter what age. A V8 with X pipe and dual Flowmaster 40s will always sound great and idle quietly depending on cam.
It’s all subjective, v8’s sound great with a good exhaust. The PO for my Harley put a beautiful set and curved dual pipes on it and removed the baffles. Some folks absolutely love the sound…. I can’t stand it. But it’s still on there for awhile because a new exhaust is stupid expensive for it.
My Jeep has stock exhaust and it’ll stay that way. A straight 6 can sound amazing with an exhaust, but I’ve not heard a Jeep six that sounds good with an exhaust.
But again, it’s all subjective. just don’t be loud just to be loud. Then you’re just annoying.

Only positive of loud pipes on a bike is that they know you're coming when it comes to traffic.
For lovely I6 sound, look at the sounds coming off a 1jZ or 2JZ motor with a nicely tuned exhaust. There are some systems that make the I6 in your Jeeps better sounding, but with the camshaft from the factory, well, it's ok.
I like what my setup does. Not loud in idle traffic and wakes up without being annoying(unless you're in an underpass with me and I floor it
)
Personally I like hearing a turbo more and if I hear one from a Jeep, I get excited and start looking around like a dog trying to find a bunny.
