2000 TJ 136k miles 2.5. Only owned a few weeks and noticed a rattle coming from the front of the engine, does go away at about 1000 rpm and above, took off the serpentine belt and the noise continues, also put a stethoscope and it sounds like its coming from the timing chain cover. My question is do you think I'm fairly safe in driving 50 miles to have it replaced? Also what is a fair price to replace?
Thanks.

It's safe to drive 50 miles, don't have clue what a good price is. If you had to use a stethoscope I'd say it's not quite in the danger zone yet.
