Tires gone but not forgotten

I was chatting with a fellow 4 wheeler and we were reminiscing of some tires from days ago....
List some that you miss and wish they were built again...

Gateway Buckshot Mudders
(NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH MAXXIS)

I know they're still around but only in two small sizes. They used to have up to a 35 or 36" and were a little bit thinner at around 11" wide. Those things threw the sod and dug to China town. Tough as hell too.

The Mickey Thompson Baja belted tires.
(The ones that had the funky pattern like an arrow pointing and some chevrons)
They had some wild sizes and just looked cool. Performance wasn't really great at any one thing but they sure looked bad ass. Fat too. Some real wide widths available.

Gateway Gumbo Monster mudders...
Less expensive than swampers and they did ok when they got spinning. The two center beads that almost immediately turned solid after a few miles didn't help anything but these did ok if you had the HP to get them spinning.

I'll add some more if I think of any.

Oh...yes...

BFG had a tire that was metric but it equated to something like a 31" tall by 13.8" wide
I'm certain they don't make this size any longer but it was pretty cool too.

Don’t remember the brand, but I had 38” Mud Dawgs AND 12” total lift (4 in springs, 6 inch SOA, 3 inch body) on a 79 Cherokee once... god they were huge back then!

Now I’m not batting an eye with putting a 3 inch triangulated 4 link with 37’s on my JT...

I ran the Q78 Ground Hawg tires on my Nissan pickup and loved those things back in the MD & W VA mud. The Q78 was a 35" tall but only about 10" wide tire.

The P and Q Buckshots were all we used to run on our jeeps back in the early 80's. I remember when they came out with the radial Buckshots, we thought they were gonna be the best. We soon went back to the Bias ply's because the would last so much longer than the radials.

I ran TSL 40" swampers on my 79 bronco with 12" lift.

Anyone remember the Parnelli Jones tires that were out for a while?? I had a set of those in 38" on a 78 Bronco also with 12" lift.

They are now called Cobalt M/T
I run them on my Diesel 7.3 Excursion.

They are excellent and overall much better than yesteryear version. Why? They run extremely true. While the lug isn't as deep as before the on road characteristics are phenomenal. Zero hydroplaning...great forward traction. Gay reverse traction.
They are loud under 8,800 pounds of machine and 45 gallon of diesel.

Yes they have gone from being produced on their own to being handled by Dick Cepek for a while and now Interco.

Regional tires would be the Les Schwab RVT tire. They were a good M/T tire.

The old Baja Belted’s haha! They did come in some wide sizes. I believe these were 39x15r16

My brother had some CO-OP tires on his CJ. You could hear him coming down the road 3 miles away.
