Hey guys,
Been having this issue for about a month now.
After Driving on a day trip out of town, 3 or more hours, my (2004 TJ 4.0 Auto) want to begin hesitating from a stop.
I come to a stop light or stop sign, then when I go to take off the engines hesitates like it is bogged down for about a second or so then takes off. Once I reach my destination, park it for an hour or so, it is completely fine.
Driving it around running errands and such,,,there is no issue, but those trips are short 30 minute or hour.
Anyone have an issue like this this?
Appreciate any help.
Jim

Any check engine lights? If so, have you scanned it for codes?

I had the same code and mine was because of a leak in the gas tank. I could be wrong, but I doubt that the leak itself is the cause.

Yea, the code puzzled me. It only happens after extended driving times of 3 or more hours....odd to me.
It is every time I go on a long drive,,that is happens.

Apparently the most common reason for that code is the gas cap. I know you have a different issue to solve, a more important one, but when you are done with that and decide to fix the code issue, might want to start with the gas cap.

Update on my hesitation issue:
Since the colder weather, The issue has magically gone away. Well, that tells me that it might be Heat Soak, after some research on the internet I found out that they put out a service bulletin with a fix for heat soak that affects injector 3 into a state of vapor lock.
I ordered a new heat shield that goes below the fuel rail and a kit that wraps the fuel rail itself and the injectors.
My heat shield was literally falling apart.
Won't know till it gets hot outside again, but I hope this works.
