TJ vs. a convertible car

I do LOVE the car though, even so because most folks hate on the SN95’s. I’ll have that car as long as I will the Jeep for sure!

So many people talk shit about every Mustang from at least 1974 to 2004. The ones like yours were considerably better looking than the fox body and probably had best performance of those three generations. If we were going by "looks only" of that 30 yr period I'd have go with the Mustang II. They looked like a retro version of the first few years of Mustangs, which I think was considerably better than their 2003 RetroBird

The "Pregnant Pinto" Mustang II took a lot of years for Mustang enthusiasts to begin accepting, but they're finally coming into their own. Unfortunately, they were such a disposable car that you rarely see any around, anymore. I've always liked 'em, myself, as long as they were V8 equipped. The '71-'73 were too big, by most enthusiast's standards, but I really like them. I like the '79-'93 Fox body, as well. I've owned a '65 coupe, a '66 fastback (drove it from Washington state to New York in three days back in '87, and gave it to my uncle as a birthday present), a '69 Mach I, and a '71 fastback. All were fun cars.

I admit, since I had such a horrid experience with my '80 TR7 back in high school, I am so tempted to find one and build it correctly. Even now I take it very personally how often my ass was kicked by that thing.

Naturally aspirated lightweight modern V6 (original 4 pot was cast iron and heavier than most modern sixes)
Modern gearbox
InfinityBox wiring loom and modern electrical systems and interior lighting
Modern-ish rear suspension
Re-design the grotesque US spec bumpers
Modern HVAC

I couldnt believe i owned it at the time. I was poor as shit. Starving actor. I had wrecked whatever shitbox i was driving before. And all i had was $1500 cash. These gang members came over with it from east la. Tjey wanted $2500. But all i had was the 1500. They took it. And i was surprised as hell.

I drove that car to auditions and rehearsals all over LA. It had 14 inch rims and tires that were way to small. Dangerous. But it looked cool as hell. Very low rider looking. It was so big u could easily sleep two people in it comfortably. Lol.

My fun car went from a '97 BMW Z3 to a 0'2 TJ. I loved the Z3. It was simple to work on and fun to drive, but I am done sitting in traffic like an egg in a frying pan on hot days. I love my bikini top.

I had a Triumph Spitfire for many years as a daily driver and my wife had one as well, I hardly ever put the hard top on just the Tonneau that clipped to the dash and fitted over the steering wheel, it had a zipper in the middle so I used to just open the drivers side, my wife always had the soft top on.
I am yet to take the hard top off my TJ, I was hard then but now I have gone soft! lol

I had a blast in my 02 roadster. I just sold it last year. I love my LJ just as much, no competition between the two. They are both built for a distinctly different purpose. My perfect vehicle would be the LJ with the Vette's LS1 and 6 speed trans.
I'm on the lookout for a clean, blue 1969 Stingray now.

I love a Jeep. I really love a jeep with the top down. Street, back road , trail, any where. At the same time, I have no interest in a convertible car, at all.

I've had a few convertibles starting with a Datsun 1600 Roadster, then a Triumph TR-6, lastly a BMW 330ci. Loved them all because it took moments or seconds to get the top off or down. I could lower my BMW's electric top in seconds while at a stop light.

I love my TJ's openness when its top is off but it's such a pain in the ass to remove or replace the top that I only do that maybe once a year now.

I always thought the Mustang II was the best looking Mustang EVER. Fox bodied Mustangs were the worst in the looks dept.

The last Mustangs I really liked ended 69-70, I absolutely loathed the 70's, 80's, and early 90's Mustangs. My favorite is the late 60's era fastback GT like Carrol Shelby turned into the GT-350. The 2000's seemed to bring back some of the Mustang qualities I like. Yeah I gotta agree the Fox body Mustang was like 'what were they THINKING' when they introduced it. UGLY!

Mustang II is horrid. Fox body's made their own style which now looks IMHO. Kinda like an R32 Skyline. I thought it was ugly, square'ish, and weird when I first saw one. Now I think they made their own definition of looking bad ass.
