so I have to ask, what is going to stop that dust/dirt from going into your intake that is pointed forward.
Altitude?
oh yea ! the only person I've seen ride behind someone and not get his windshield and top dusty is @AndyG ! so I'm sure dust doesn't gets up that high.....unless you have this one !!!

There are a lot fewer dust particles at 6' than at 3' off the ground. Not Zero particles but not as intense and way better for the engine the higher the air intake. Pointing the intake on a snorkel forward is also rather dumb. Suppose they think that there is some benefit from ram air effect but doubt that makes any significant difference. By sucking the air from the rear you get some self cleaning effect as the denser dirt particles will have a tendency to keep going south while less dense air will make the bend north to the snorkel air intake more easily. Might be a negative pressure effect if you drive 70mph on dirt trails/roads but that's its own punishment to all the other components on the Jeep that will fail before the motor.
I was thinking the same thing. OP has not replied since he posted this. Everybody was a newbie once...
I've always been curious what a snorkel does to power. Having to pull air through that extended tube has to hurt performance to a degree.

The whole of Australia and every construction crew and heavy machinery manufacturer/operator running active prefilters like a Sy-Klone or Donaldson are just doing it for Instagram clout.
I was just in the outer banks and all the state rigs cleaning dunes off the roads were running Sy-Klones on stacks and I stopped and told them to cut it out and they just flipped me the bird, some people
If I'm going somewhere thats really dusty I stuff a couple rags in the intake tube ! And if your going to ford deep water be sure to zip-tie a 12in piece of bicycle innertube onto your exahst pipe to prevent water from going up it !!! AINT NOTHING WORSE THAN HAVING WATER GO UP YOUR TAILPIPE !

thats real nice. how many have you seen with that on them. I do like that you could put some LED lights in it and have a street lamp

Keep it up- I’m telling your brother how you’ve been treating me.
On my VW sandrail I have a fabric cover over the intake. After a drive if it is caked I can wash it and reinstall it. No issues with the tons of sand blowing around as I drive. The intake is about three feet off the ground. Andy
