While doing my ultra high UCF tummy tuck I decided to add a UCF lopro transmission mount which for those of you who don’t know sits the transmission an inch lower on top of the skid. This is accomplished by reducing the amount of rubber bushing. Here’s my thoughts on it since when I researched it hardly anyone has put their experience with on here except @bobthetj03 in a couple threads.

Here’s why I used it:
  • To reduce amount of exhaust work necessary from the tuck since I did it myself. Mission accomplished on this since it was only one cut and weld of a hanger.
  • To reduce pinion angles and the consequences of high angles such as shock contacting coil spring (not just perch), trackbar contacting crossmember and gas tank, vibrations, reduced caster, etc.
  • These perks made me comfortable with with doing a more extreme tuck (3” up) versus a more mild tuck (1-2” up)
The only downside to it is that there is a little increase in idle vibrations transmitted into the tub because there is less rubber. It seems like this has scared most people away from it but I really don’t mind them at all. I listen to music while daily driving so I don’t even notice them. The idle only vibrates extra with the AC on as well. With the AC off it’s completely normal. I can see how this may bug someone who sits in stop and go traffic a lot in silence. To me it’s one of those things like the trade off between MT tires and the performance you get offroad vs the extra noise you get on road. All about weighing the pros and cons of what you value.

I’ve ran one about two years now. While I don’t think it is a great design, there isn’t another bolt on option besides a savvy skid.

Yeah if I had the late TJ I would absolutely opt for a Savvy skid system as they include an entire independent crossmember and new exhaust hanger which is a awesome.

I have a UCF on the brown bomber, that thing is stout enough to jack from and not bend anything.

I take back everything. After less than a year I looked at it last week and my transfer case was actually resting on the skid. The tiny little bushing they include wore out. I’ve read multiple other saying the same thing. DO NOT BUY THIS MOUNT. I just replaced it with a mopar mount and it feels like I’m sitting in a freakin Tesla it’s so smooth compared to how it was before. The new mount raised my driveshaft angle by 2*. Not a very significant amount and was very easy to account for.

Yep, seems like a bad design to begin with. On paper it might sound like a decent solution, but clearly it isn't.
