My buddies 04 LJ has it, My 05 LJ Rubicon had it but my 06 LJ Rubicon never had any. All three were built for the Canadian market.Which TJs came with under-hood insulation? Anyone add this, thoughts?
According to some press releases the insulation was one of several things added to the LJ to make it quiet on the road. I think they added thicker padding under the carpet too. I saw tests of the interior sound levels driving and it helped a bit. It didn't seem to help my paint at all. Mine finally fell onto the engine after a few days wheeling in the mud this season. To my ears the engine noise is noticeably louder on the road without it but I got tired of my hood weighing 20lbs extra when it was wet and dripping for hours after.
Not really, just on the road. My clutch was really loud too compared to the old stock one, I have a Hayden 2771. It's been in since late 2016 and now I don't even notice it. I don't know if it "wore in" or I just got used to it.Can you tell any noise difference when wheeling? That's the time I wish mine was quieter. I think when I did my cooling system rebuild in 2018 I accidentally bought some sort of high flow or heavy duty fan clutch 'cause I swear my fan is louder than it ought to be.
