User Transparent No-Brainer Products

I would like to make my current TJ (X with 5-Speed) more capable for some light trail use and some exploring but keep good road manners. I also do not want to nuke my MPG with big lifts and tires. I do not do rock crawling or mudding, and would like to keep this particular Jeep as more of a Grand Tourer for getting to State and National Parks but be able to get a little further out of the beaten path then say a Subaru could do. I am also a fan of more of the stock look which is what attracted me to the TJ along with its smaller size for fitting into tight spaces. What are some products or trick I can use to do so? I have been researching the Currie/RockJock Antirock kit and that looks like a great product and something I’d like to do as well as Detroit/Eaton Truetrac LSD. I like how both of these increase the capabilities essentially with no user input because they are basically transparent. Any other such products you can recommend? Are progressive springs worth it in a TJ?

Go with a sway loc over the anti rock. Lunch box locker up front with limited slip in the rear.

If you really want to up the ante, install a 1.25 body lift and do a tummy tuck. You’ll have a Jeep on 31’s that will be more capable than a vast majority of anything else’s out there, and it will still look stock

Thank you for the input. I will do research on all of these things. Does the tummy tuck require a slip yoke eliminator? I’ll admit I was drawn to the Antirock because it looks like you can go from on to off-road without even having to do anything or exit the rig.

Yeah, tummy tuck is a big, expensive mod but it’s also probably one of the best ways to improve actual clearance under the rig that you can do. Adjustable control arms, SYE, new skid system, exhaust work, etc are all required

That’s fine. I was a diesel mechanic for 12 years so I can probably do quite a bit of it myself. Thanks for the $0.02!

agree with the tummy tuck, especially for a 31” tire build!
