Well, since the weatherman is seldom correct, I'll remain optimistic until Friday.
I doubt there is enough snow to make it challenging to get to UTC. We could always journey over to loon lake though.

I am waiting on parts!
But I can use my handheld to listen. Only test I can find is same day as the run until next month.

I'm not too concerned if the snow is light. I haven't been out jeeping in so long I may not remember how to put it in 4WD!
My ham radio might be able to make you a ham sandwich all I know.
I think you have to modify it so it can use those frequencies.
This is a good alternative if there is a lack of snow, we could go play on the Granite Slab.

You need to do the MARS mod. The cheap baofeng can though.
On my radio it meant removing these two diodes.
I have a GMRS radio in my Side by side. It can send and receive on some UHF and VHF frequencies.

The 40 watt units are impressive, but the 275 would be an easy upgrade as it would mount in the same config as my Cobra. the

HAMs are easier than you think .. hardest part and the easiest is to actually get a license. After that modding your radio is like modding your gun in CA that may or may not be legal.
FYI .. I do support modding for times when you may need it in emergency situations which makes pretty much any frequently legal to be used by anyone in that situation.
