I purchased a Tuffy center console, the one that doesn't have the front half OR the attachment point to connect it to the later-model split center console. So I went looking for a factory short console to replace my 97's one-piece.

I ordered one from Dead Jeep Parts on ebay. https://deadjeep.com/ and ended up with the wrong part - they sent the later-model split console front half. I can see how it's an easy mistake to make when digging through a warehouse — at a glance they look the same.

Included in the box was a slip with an email address and direct phone line, so that they could address any issues directly rather than via an eBay return or dispute.

I spoke to Allison, who was pleasant, courteous, and extremely helpful. Sent a photo of what I got, versus what I ordered, and she called AND emailed back within a few hours to let me know it would be shipping out the next day.

When I asked about the one I got, she said to just keep it (I'm sure the return costs wouldn't be worth it to eat).

Really great customer service and a positive experience. Just wanted to pass it along and give them a shout out. And if anyone needs the front half of a split center console, I don't need it and would be happy to send it your way.

I have had horrible experience with DeadJeep. On Aug 23rd I ordered some parts for my hardtop:
1. Hinges
2. Wiper fluid reservoir
3. Rear washer squirter nozzle
4. Rear wiper motor cover
5. Two wiring harnesses

I ordered 1-3 from the ebay store. I ordered 4 and 5 from their online store. 1-3 were all shipped fairly quickly.

Issue #1 - The hinges were not correct. They sent me two left hand hinges instead of a left and right. The right side has a longer stud to account for mounting the wiper motor. Besides that, the flanges were not included which are required for the hinges to be useable. The interior nuts were also corroded and horrible looking. They must have been laying in a field. An interior part should never look as bad as they did. So I sent those back.

Issue #2 - I finally received the rear wiper cover on 9/30! A month and a week later. And that is after calling a few times asking what was going on. On top of that the wiper cover I received is for a YJ when I ordered a cover for a 97-02 TJ.

Issue #3 - I gave up on the wiring harnesses and canceled the order on 9/30. They state that things will be shipped out 7-10 business days, which seems fair if they have to pull the parts. But, they kept saying it would be shipped out but finally the girl on the phone admitted the owner kept saying he would get the part over the weekend but never did and she didn't know when I would get it. I kept being told they would call and let me know what was going on but they never did.

The fluid nozzle seems OK but I have not had a chance to squirt anything through it since I have no wiring harness. The fluid reservoir seems OK. It came with two very rusty pumps that I had to discard.

I will never do business with this place again. They seem incompetent. One time I called and the girl who answered the phone was frazzled and said she was the only one who showed up for work. Good luck if you use them. Maybe you will get eventually something you can use. If you do order, go through the ebay store. They seem to ship faster from there and you have ebay purchase protection.

I had an issue with them but they made it right so I have no lasting issues. I’d buy from them again.

Don’t expect new parts from a used part seller

Also, my other car is a 1969 VW that is almost 30 years older than my Jeep and I have bought a tons of used parts for it. I know exactly what to expect for used parts.

Bought hood OE red hinges to replace my janky chrome ones PO installed. Flawless transaction, rusty and red, just like the pictures.

Even in the original post in this thread it says that the person originally got the wrong part sent to them. LOL. Their entire job is to send the correct parts to people and they get it wrong all the time.

Define “all the time” and how you came to that conclusion.

I’ve used them 3 times with no complaints and would recommend them. I only use their web site to order. Because they are on the other side of the country from me it can take a while to get to me.
2 spare locker pumps
Dash bezel for the YJ
Female seat belts for the TJ
I think many of their parts are still on the Wranglers and they send someone out to remove and then ship when an order is placed.

I'm glad you guys are having good luck with them. I and others have not. I'm just warning you.

I ordered six items from them.
- I received one that was garbage.
- I receive two that were satisfactory and I have no complaints.
- One was received over a month after they took my money and was the wrong part - a simple washer motor cover that should take 10 minutes to pull from a Jeep.
- The other two were never received so I finally canceled them after over double what the posted shipping time is.

So, I had 2/6 success rate or 33%. So, they don't fail all the time but in my case, most of the time.
