Ever since I put 35’s on my rubicon I noticed that I feel a vibration when coming to a stop. It only happens when the Jeep is almost stopped. When I first hit brakes, everything is normal till the last couple feet of stopping. I had brakes replaced with vanco big break kit shortly after putting 35’s thinking this would fix issue. Brakes work great, but still have the vibration.

Recently I’ve been experiencing a clunking/pop noise when almost stopped after hitting brakes, as well. Doesn’t happen every time. I can also feel something underneath right where my feet sit on the floor board.

After doing some reading, I’m leaning towards a bad control arm bushing. The Jeep came with a 4” superlift lift kit which I believe came with bottom control arms, as they are not stock.

Am I on the right track, or way off? I have currie’s currectlync steering package, and when getting brakes installed I had the ball joints replaced as well with Dana spicer ball joints, so I don’t think it should be anything up front. Thoughts?

Sounds like it might be a bad control arm bushing in terms of that clunk sound.

As for that vibration, all signs point to an improperly balanced wheel, especially since you just had 35s put on.

Like Chris the sound could be a bad bushing. I had something similar and it turned out that my control arms weren't torqued down all the way. I would fix that issue first and see if the other goes away.

Yes, be sure to check the torque on the control arms. That's a common issue too.

I just got the same knock in my 04 Rubicon last week. I’ve tightened the control arms and it was less noticeable but I’m replacing the drive line u joints next weekend. 115 k on originals

I had it too with my worn out skyjacker kit . You 'll be happier with the chassis stability once you sort it out probably.

I may be totally wrong , but I put a lot of emphasis on bushing quality when I think of all the components that make a Jeep drive well.

It was your control arm?

Yep. Control arm set up and quality is huge.

I had rear steer and all sorts of issues on a Jeep with 20,500 miles due to a cheap lift.

My 03 drives awesome now , like a small, late model truck nearly , and it's lifted 4" with beadlock rims .

You can literally drive it with one finger at 65-70 mph.
