What backspacing would be best for a 33x10.5r15 tire? I want to run it on 15x8 wheels, and I want to go as close as I can to stock without rubbing because I don't really like the look of tires that stick out far.

You could actually stay with the factory backspacing of 5.25" if you add a washer to both steering stop bolts. Doing that would not make a noticeable difference to your turning radius.

If you're buying aftermarket wheels, the most backspacing you'll find is probably 4.5" which would work fine.

I have 15x8 wheels with 4.5” of backspace with 33x10.5 tires and they Barely stick out past my Sahara flares

So your'e saying that a wheel with 4.5" of backspacing wouldn't rub?
Nope, not with a 10.5" to 11.5" wide tire. It will slightly rub at times with a 12.5" wide tire but that can be taken care of as suggested above with a washer or two under both steering stop bolts.

4.75" backspacing. 15x8 wheels. 33x10.5x15 KO2. Rubicon flares. Only the sidewall bulges out.

sorry for the thread resurrection!

I'm going with 33x10.5's for the LJ build (4" Savvy" ) and want to snag some 15x8 wheels.

Reading this thread and other forum resources I see the 4.75-4.25" range is ideal. My challenge is which "offset" do I look for when ordering from Discount Tire. The sizes are 6, -19, -29 as the offset and no backspacing metrics.

I'd assume the "6" would be ideal based on my limited knowledge of offset/backspacing

Hey ! Check this link: https://www.discounttiredirect.com/learn/offset-backspace

I have 33x10.5 with a -19mm (3.75 back spacing) and they stick out a little but in a good way. I'll post a picture once home if anyone's interested.

I have 33x10.50's with an effective backspacing of 4.25 and sahara/rubicon flares. At full flex the tires make contact with the flares (they'll slide under the edge of the flare but push it out a bit). Because of this I will probably swap out my 1.25 spacers for 1" spacers. Then it should be perfect with an effective backspacing of 4.5. I wouldn't recommend stock backspacing with 33x10.50's if you have an anti-rock sway bar and want to keep it in the stiffest setting - it will rub badly and you will have to limit your steering stops to the point where your turning radius feels like a full size truck.

You can use this website to see how everything will look compared to stock or whatever you have now. Also use the BS to Offset conversion chart.
