It does not, that is very true, Tolkien liked his words A LOT. I am surprised how well I can read it considering I have dyslexia. Probably helps me with my comprehension though.

Yep - Tolkien loved languages, it shows throughout all his works. My wife has dyslexia - she has to Read. One. Word. At. A. Time. So she reads slowly, but thoroughly.

Book 5 so far,i like the authors sense of humor and the narrator. Good way to pass the time driving and working.

Check out reamde,snow crash and some others by neil stephenson some time when you get a chance for cyberpunk and apocalyptic type stories

Man I bounced off snowcrash twice already. Maybe I'll give it another shot when I'm done, I've got like 6h left of the last book now.

I'm sad I didn't love it. Cyberpunk is normally really fun, the nueromancer is one of my favorites of all time.

I'm about halfway through book 8 on Dungeon Crawler Carl.

Samantha - I'll have the children's menu. Wait, there's no children on this menu.

As to preteens/kids reading Dungeon Crawler Carl...well I most certainly would have when I was a kid but my parents did pay any attention to what I was reading. There's lots of good discussion points in the book...if your kids read you should too and have some good conversations. Topics like rape, genocide and some pretty brutal topics get covered.

Also listening to the History of WWII by Ray Harris Jr.

Reading "The Eternal River", an early version of Philip Jose Farmer's "Riverworld" series, before it was fleshed out to its current form. Things are a bit different in this version - but its very readable as all of PJF's stuff is.
