What did you do to your TJ today?

Took a trip to the local pharmacy to pick up some meds.

Got finished with replacing all the quick connects with compression fittings on my OBA system. That's the good news. The bad news is that about half of them leak. {INSERT CUSSING RANT HERE} Then it occurred to me that the ones that were NOT leaking were the ones where I re-terminated the plastic tubing...

Angels watch over drunks and fools, and I don't drink...

At least the air/water separator is no longer leaking after I found the correct O-ring for it at Ace. The surplus place sold it as NOS in box, but there was no O-ring with it, and it took some doing to even find out that it was supposed to have one!

Then I installed a Rusty's Offroad radiator shield, with rather less than the usual hassle. The included washers were too small in two places, and I had to grind on it slightly, but otherwise it seems to be good kit and cheap enough.

Pix tomorrow, I had to work into the nite to get this done - and then Henna my hair which was grossly overdue. Henna is gloppy-messy, but for some reason it was particularly messy tonite. It was reminding me of heat sink compound or never-seeze in how it was just getting everywhere. To make things complete, I noticed I had a big smear of never-seeze on my arm...

It's tomorrow. No more excuses. ;)

Had a fun ride this morning. She crossed a double white line, two rows of traffic barrels and thru a construction zone just to hit me🙄
She's an Uber driver and her passenger jumped out and hopped into my jeep and cussed her out. He says she was completely at fault and wasn't going to ride with her to a safe place off the highway. I have dashcam video so I should be fine insurance wise

Anyhow, bumped my alignment out about 2cm and unbalanced a tire but that's all for me. Did a little more damage to her. I hit her at about 90kmh and she was going maybe 3kmh

To the victor go the spoils! 😁

I mounted my new Wizard Recovery gear that I received from @mrblaine as part of the October ROTM prize package. I’m going to miss my old colorful front end which had parts chosen to emulate the colors of the Colorado state flag, but I love the new look too and the parts are top notch quality! There’s something oddly satisfying about stretching a new winch rope.

I also want to take this opportunity to once again thank Blaine for his generosity. 🍻

After our deep water crossing in Arkansas, I noticed dripping from the front Dana 30 axle tubes . Today I opened it up and drained the clear creek water out , then the Milky oil . Luckily the last time I had the cover off I reinstalled it with the Lubelocker gasket . That made servicing it a breeze .
I checked the Dana 44 rear end , transfer case and the transmission and all was good . Next I will be greasing everything .

I believe the water entered the axle tubes , is this normal ? I've not had this issue before , but I don't believe I've ever been through that deep of water .

Also the starter gave me an issue today . The gear wouldn't stay engaged with the flywheel . I removed the starter , sprayed the shaft and weep hole with penetrating fluid . Starts like new now . I'm sure it was under water , so after sitting it may have rusted a little .

Didn't actually DO anything to my LJ today but did get it a trailer to ride on one day. It's an old Ditch Witch trailer made in 1977. Two 5000 lb. axles. Bought it with no title for $1100. Going to ditch the surge brakes and convert to electric. That will shorten the tongue a little. Probably going to shorten the ramps up too. Want to make the fenders removable also. The wood deck is 12 feet long, 6 foot wide. Called Ditch Witch and they still have parts. It can haul about 10,000 pounds so my tractors may fit on it.

Swapped the Dirty Life Beadlocks onto it. Northridge4x4 had these on closeout for $230 per wheel plus the race ring. I had to use adapters since these are 5x5 so I gained 3" of width overall. It feels a bit more stable with the width.

The spare tire wheel is on order, it just hasn't shipped yet. And I've got to drill and tap the Rugged Ridge spare mount for the 5x5 pattern.
