What did you do to your TJ today?

Did you repaint or deep clean the das. If repaint... How did you match the "khaki" color?

Just deep cleaned! I have a cheap HF steam cleaner that I used. I sprayed areas with Simple Green and let it saturate for a few minutes, then hit the sprayed areas with the steam cleaner to break solids away, then wiped clean. It’s time consuming but effective.

I added these to hold down the hood.

Last year we went to South Dakota and the wind was sustained 30-40 mph with higher gusts. We could barely get to 70 mph in some places.

The flexible versions stretched enough the hood would bounce until the latch caught it. So I spent a day driving thinking the hood was going to come off at random times. It was hard enough staying on the road without the hood popping up an inch or 2 in the wind.

It's windy here in the plains states.

Do you have a link for those? Pretty sweet!!!

The rain caught me off guard last night.
So as it was allready wet, I proper cleaned the inside.

Used Koch chemicals allround cleaner and top star for the first time. But that stuff is amazing! They say it also has a antistatic effect. That would be very nice with the roof off 😝

Right nothing
Middle allround cleaner
Left top star

Next step, seats cleaning and I need some new leather on my steering wheel!

I can't find the order. I got them for Christmas so it may be under a family member (catching up on projects). They look like they match this link, but I installed them facing the other direction to keep salt and sand out of the key area during the winter and bugs during the summer.

Amazon TJ Hood Latches

They keep people out of the engine bay if you park in the open or in a garage like I do at work.

Since I went crazy with the cleaning I decided to add a cabin air filter. I channeled my inner Jerry B. and bought from who I believe holds the actual patent for this in USA. A lot of Chinese rip offs out there ☹️ Even came with a Mopar filter!

I've been looking at these. Is a gasket needed between the cowl and filter housing?

The instructions said it wasn’t required but sealant was recommended. The original cowl that came off had a gasket underneath so I carefully peeled it off and reused it.

Last month the TJ started to over heat on the first ride to work of the summer season. Coolant leaking, so I parked in a nearby lot and returned in the evening to trailer it home. Seemed likely the water pump gasket. Removing the fan required visiting four different auto part stores to find a Fan Clutch Renoval tool that would work.

Eventually I got the right tools, removed the water pump and sure enough, the gasket was shot.

Broke the fan shroud in the process. Fixed it with zipties and JB Wield.

New pump, gasket, and water return tube. Everything else looked good.

Coolant was $15 each at Walmart. Put the belt back on wrong in the dwindling light last night. Squealed like a pig. Probably woke up the neighbors.

Confirmed the correct serpentine path after work today. Rerouted, fired it up and amazingly it doesn't seem to leak.

It might not be much but I'm proud of myself. ...Best therapy money can buy.

Just finished up the double din install. Not too difficult at all and made a huge difference in sound quality. The PO had some sort of system in there with about 6miles of cables, two amps and 2 12" speakers. Those are all in a pile next to everything else I can't seem to part with....now I just need someone with patience to set up the screen mirroring and what ever else this does.
