what all do I need to install a front arb air locker on my 2003 Wrangler Sahara? I know I need the locker , lines and an air pump; is there more required? I also know it is gear specific...

You need new carrier bearings and shims for sure. The ARB's uses different carrier bearings and special master shims. You'll need all those and the matching backlash shims, & pinion depth shims. Some of which will be inside the box. You should open it and look inside. You'll need a master install kit.

Been years since I installed one. You will need a drill and tap for the housing unless they changed how the line is run.

Pinion depth won't change with a carrier swap.

Looking at the two I have attached. Not sure if that was gonna be sufficient

Yes, you’ll need those, plus the master install kit. Aside from tools, I believe that should be it! Order them through one of the Amazon forum links too if you are going to, I’ll get a small percentage (I use it to offset forum costs).

Looking at that locker, it already comes with the master install kit from what I can tell, so I don’t think you need anything l else!

What’s this amazon forum link you speak of?

See #2 here: Different ways you can help support this forum

Basically anytime you click on an Amazon link on this forum (i.e. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004P919D4/?tag=wranglerorg-20), a very small percentage of the sale goes to me, which I use for to pay the costs associated with running the forum. Still costs you the same either way, so you're not losing anything.

And what is the deal with the different spline shafts?

The Dana 30 and Dana 44 axles have different spline axle shafts, so that must be what it's referring too. Also, since that locker fits YJs, TJs, and JKs, I know the spline count on the axles changed over the years with the different generations of Wrangler as well.

Shaft and Carriers are usually describe it by the numbers of splines. Ex. TJ Dana 30 27 splines...The Splines is what make contact with the carrier, on our Jeep world more splines = more contact = more lager diameter = more stronger. Is important to know the spline count before order your locker so the current shaft on your rig mate the new locker carrier.
Many around here tend to use the Locker install to upgrade the axle shaft as our TJ's are 27 spline equipped from factory.

Okay, so I got a stock Dana 30 that I’m going to install the locker on. Should be a 27 spline then.

Correct, It should be 27 Spline. Perhaps since the locker install is an pricey investment I do encourage you to be physically corroborate anyways. Unless you are the originally owner and knows no one mess with this before.
