I think the PO of my vehicle notched the console so he wouldn’t be locked out. Still looking for a cheap replacement so I i can at least latch it. But, a lock there is dumb anyway… you could try one of these.
This thing lets me temporarily mount the flat tow breakaway switch to my bumper. The bumper steel is around 8mm thick. I added a zip tie, but it's really only a tether.
As we all know - synthetic ropes get destroyed by Texas sun, but winch bags trap moisture and generally look horrible. I didin't want my new Wizard Recovery rope to suffer a premature death, so I came up with this:
I made 2 versions, one with a downwards facing plate to help cover some of the light getting in between the cover and the fairlead, and another that just covers the top. This design is for a Smittybuilt Gen 2, but I don't see any reason the same principle couldn't be taken to most side mount winches. OBV this still lets in some...
They're sort of a 1/4-20 flag nut for the upper door surround. I was using cotter pins, but to remove them I had to remove the entire surround. With these, I can just hold them up and thread the thumb screw in:

I didn't! I actually didn't think of it... I have some sitting around, but they're probably all metric. I just printed a bunch of spares and threw them in the console instead... there's next to no strain on these things. They just retain the screw.
I'm new to this, do we have a thread where discuss 3d printers in general? I searched but didn't see anything, but I figure we have a healthy discussion somewhere already.
Probably not best in this forum. However, there are some good FB sites "Bambu labs for beginners" and plenty of YT videos. FYI.. I dind't know a thing about 3D printing but was printing within 30 minutes of opening up my X1C so don't be afraid.

About 2/3rds of the members here aren't on FB. Some, like me, have that site blocked permanently. There are several threads here on the subject, most of them are older though. A new one can always be started!
