What is a fair price for Moab wheels?

I'm eyeing a 4 set of Moab wheels that seem to be in good shape. According to the seller they have "never been offroad" . I will inspect them, but if they are definitely in good shape, what would be a fair price per wheel for both sides. OR , what price would you try to settle on? I offered him $200 for the set. He came back with $300.

$300 sounds like a good deal assuming the wheels are in good shape but it wouldn't hurt to try for $250.

Where did the 5th one go? Also, are these the TJ Moabs (16") or the JK's? 16" tires are limited, and more expensive than a 15" or a 17". There are a couple manufacturers that sell Moab knock-offs as well...

Not sure how prices are running in Carolina but I bought a set of 5 JK Moabs about 6 months ago from a fellow forum member...local pickup...for $100. Have to add in price of adapters though. I've seen similarly priced sets on Craigslist...some with worn out tires, some plain rims. Guess it depends how much of a hurry you are in. Patience might yield better deal

they are TJ Moabs, he doesn't have the 5th one. They are a set that he bought as extra wheels.

I paid 125 bucks for 5 JK moabs. They were plasti-dipped, poorly. I've since sold them on. I think I sold my 5 TJ moabs for 200 or something. The clearcoat was pretty rough and the tires were shot. That was back before anything TJ related was priced like gold tho

Be sure the 4 wheels are the same. There were two different styles. '03 to '05 were the same. '06 was a slightly different. This will help!

Also, If it's only 4 wheels, I'd not offer more than $250, because then you'll have to chase down a single. Lastly, keep in mind that tire choices are limited and more expensive for 16" tires. If you really want that style, a JK wheel might be a better choice. They are cheap 17" alternative and lots of JL and JT owners remove and sell good tires for cheap.

On 35s with an anti rock, I needed 1.5” spacer to clear everything
On 33”s 285/75r16 - I used 1.25 spacers. Without the anti rock on this setup I just added a few washers to the steering stops.

$200 sounds fair. Not good, not bad. Tracking down a fifth will be a pain and if you find one - it might be "aged" a little bit different. That means possibly keeping the fifth wheel on the tailgate to prevent two mismatched wheels from being seen side by side....and not be able to do a five tire rotation.

I would leave the set of four wheels to the XJ guys and be patient/wait for a set of five.

It depends on what size tire you plan to run, running spacers isn’t the end of the world, just need to spend some time installing correctly. My tires were catching my antirock when I turned at full lock.

Planning on running 33x10.5 if I stick with the Ravine wheels in 15" .

Incorrect. The Moab is less backspacing (by about a 1/2" if memory serves) than the other TJ offerings.

The Ravine wheels are 10lbs lighter, fit many more tires that work on our Jeeps and are generally better wheels all around. I'd only consider larger diameter wheels if I wanted bigger brakes. When you shop for TJ Moab wheels be careful, there are two different designs and they are often sold miss-matched used. In my area they are almost always for sale in poor condition inexpensive and in perfect condition for ridiculous prices. Tire selection is severely limited on 16" wheels for our Jeep. I don't really see the point. I think the offset even causes some rubbing on a stock TJ because the Dana 44 is a bit different on the Rubicon. I've considered them, the tire selection just sucks so bad I can't deal with it.
