Plus those buyers are more modified buyers from the get go.
Just by sheer volume the JK brought many more buyers to the Jeep world with many just being a buyer of a modded rig.

If I sell mine again, I would ask $13,000 firm. I sold it 3 years ago for $13,500 and had people knocking down my door to get it. Maybe they just wanted my skeleton.

Well, these are TOYS. You can’t assign the same black book pricing and banks interest to these old Jeep’s.
Sorry, you are coming at this from a young buyers market. I’m coming at it from a 40+ person whole grew up with these as new, like me, and now pay cash for their toys.
I don’t want a JK or JL.
I want a small TJ to play with. And with $40k SXS’s out….it gives the young folks shit to finance.

The OP's Jeep can no longer be built. That's been taken away...and on a TJ it hurts.

I've now owned 15 real Jeep's.
Some heavily modified but none that couldn't be daily driven and were also extremely trail capable. None were a "TOY" to me whatsoever.

So step up and buy some. Hell buy them all. You can have them shipped in for a small fee. Buy a few and get a deal on a carrier.

I'm in Arizona and a few months ago bought my 04 TJR with 67k miles for 19k off of craigslist. It hit everything on my "had to have" list.... rust free 03 or 04 TJR, Solar Yellow, low miles, auto, soft top, mostly stock with a decent quality lift and 33's. I'm happy with it and the price I paid which is about right for the Arizona market at this time. I would not have bought a TJ off of EBay. I know many people would be, but I personally wouldn't be comfortable bidding on a vehicle sight unseen.
Possibly the OP should begin at 19k and see what happens... Or better yet, keep it and find another way to buy the property... Or don't buy the property at all because the cost of lumber and building new has skyrocketed like everything else.

You would be surprised what the Jeep market in "CA" will support.
I know of a stock '06 LJR that sold for just under $30K, a '05 TJR that sold for $24K and an '04 TJR that sold for $23,500.
I stand by my suggestion to ask $25K OBO....this way you have room to negotiate.....

Just throwing my 2 cents in... I think realistically 15-18K is where it "should" be. With how the market has been lately and being cali, I could see it going for more. I personally wouldn't pay over 12-13K for it, too many miles. Mileage on this is a bit much to ask a crazy amount. I had an 04 Rubicon with 135K on that I sold for 12K after it sat for 2 months for sale at 13K. This was a couple years ago though.

I'm with you, wouldn't buy a Tj or any car sight unseen. With that said, using ebay as the base of comparison probably isn't the wisest. I'm in SoCal, just bought a TJR less than a year ago, and helping a couple buddies look for jeeps for them. There are plenty of people out there that want a Jeep that's already built for a multitude of reasons. I mentioned in an earlier post that the OP could probably get $20,000 for it from what I've seen in this part of the country. Could be a little more or a little less, but $20,000 looks like a fair price.
Completely agree here. Anything modded has lost the fun that a lot of people like to get into.
This applies to all vehicles. Imports, civics, VW's. Anytime its modded it loses value. Motorcycles.
Hell, i bought my Ducati for 5k and had him take off all the aftermarket pipes and wheels too lmao. I didnt care for his tastes.
- Check out pawnstars. Anytime they get a modded car its hard to value. Because theres nothing to compare it to because it's someone's idea.
- A car thats been restored to as close to stock sells all day real easily.

I wouldnt pay 20 k for OP's here in los angeles where jeeps fetch more.
16k looks reasonable but its also rough on paint. And i like a clean paint job at that price.

Thanks for the input, as I read thru I agree with the thought process for sure, not sure if I really want to sell, scared to post it because I might get the crazy 25k offer and I'd have to take it. I would never buy it for 25k even knowing how much I have invested.

IT is worth a try. The used car market is crazy right now. With new car inventory almost non-existent used cars are selling a lot higher. Places like Carvana are offering more than sticker price for used Wranglers. Somebody with disposable income may bite out of desperation.
