What's "off road"?

It's not uncommon to have to drop your rig into 4-Low to get through the potholes in the Seattle metro area...
At the mall...just beyond that thing that your tires hit, just where the pavement ends and the flowers begin, That's offroad!

"Offroad" is where I fear I'm gonna end-up anytime my daughter is driving!!!!! Sheesh!!! :yikes:

Off road to me is more than an unpaved road. Gravel roads don't count. If they run a grader on it, it's not off-road. One of my favorite road signs in all of Michigan...these are the gates to "off-road"

Thats why I was saying that, lol. So it it off-road or not? On one hand it is a highway, on the other hand its a beach on the ocean.
I like to bring up topics like this for discussion once in awhile. We talk about a lot of things here and some of them are pretty advanced or technical. I find it good communication to have even approximately the same picture in your head as everyone else has while we're hashing it out. But that's just me.
I was a long-time member of a Rambler car club (for you youngsters who never heard of a Rambler, research the connection to our beloved TJs. You might be surprised.). Anyway, we had an issue with the fact that the founder of the club was all about the technical side of things. Meetings and newsletters were full of his technical contributions, but were dry, dry, dry. I mean, to the point where folks were starting to complain. When someone else took over the position of the club president, we started going the exact opposite direction, and ended up with nothing but fluff and entertainment. Those of us who wanted a little of both of the different styles were becoming frustrated. Ultimately, the club ceased to exist after a very long run. The point is, I think this forum has a healthy dose of both approaches. We have enough technical info floating around here to meet the needs of those who desire it, and we have our fair share of humor and entertaining banter to keep it light. Sometimes it's easy to see the folks that lean way over to one style over the other, but I think we generally have a nice balance here. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Best damn forum out there!

Off road is when you have to get out and turn in your hubs or your not going any farther. You folks do remember locking hubs, right?
