What's this wire for?

2006 wrangler tj 2.4 SE. fan wasn’t working on one and two stops. So looked to this forum and you tube for directions to change the resistor. Took the glove box out and see this white wire not connected to anything. There’s 4 wires coming out of the resistor plug with one opening left. Might it go to there? There is no a/c in this rig. Everything other than the two fan speeds seemed to work with this white wire not hooked up to anything. Thank you.

I can't tell, but it looks aftermarket potentially. Is it a wire coming from an aftermarket headunit / stereo?

Just looked and, no such wires in my '06. Not just the white wire but the red and black that follow the same path. I'm betting that Chris nailed it being from an aftermarket head unit. Or, possibly an aftermarket accessory/lighting switch?

I agree too, aftermarket something.
Pull your blower motor resistor and replace it, that should fix your problem (or else it's in the speed switch itself).

Don’t have an aftermarket radio and don’t think there’s any add on switches. Do very much appreciate you guys’ help. Thank you.
