Which replacement radiator should I use?

My radiator is seeping between the plastic tank and the aluminum core. This most likely isn’t the factory unit and id like to replace it with a quality unit. Looking for recommendation what to buy. Omix 1 core , 3 core, aluminum? Mopar? I’ll replace the hoses same time. Thanks for any advice.

Everybody will with out fail recommend Mopar on here. Can't say I disagree.

Ask yourself these questions,

How long did my original radiator last?

Would I rather save a few bucks and purchase a lesser quality part, that I will have to replace in a few years?

Now make your purchase. Rockauto usually has good pricing on the Mopar brand.


I can tell you from personal experience that the CFS brand sucks. I went through 3 of them within a year and a half on my old tj.

I consider myself lucky here. I'm on year 7+ with a Spectra Premium CU2455 radiator. That said, if I were to buy another one it would be a Mopar!

If this isn't the original then I doubt he'd know how long they last. But for the record, it seems most all original radiators are still going strong after all these years.
That's why so many say to replace with stock Mopar. Tho I have to wonder how many are still left sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
It's a good time to do a coolant flush and replace the water pump while you are there. And don't forget new hoseclamps! Don't use those crappy worm-screw clamps that people call 'hose clamps'. They can crack the plastic even if you are 'brain surgeon careful' using them.

When I got my TJ about 4 years ago, I made the mistake of putting in a "quality" aftermarket radiator. It lasted 2 years before it began causing temperature spikes because it couldn't handle driving on the beach. Swapped in a Mopar radiator and never looked back.

Given the choice, there is only ONE replacement radiator you should use and that is an OE Mopar radiator.

If you're looking for an alternative, most people around here aren't going to have one as the OE Mopar radiator has stood the test of time.

Do it once and do it right, trust me
