Whistling light bar

It is amazing how so many people say this forum is so friendly but then you turn around and people are saying throw lightbars in the garbage or swearing about them (this applies to other things also, not just lightbars). Maybe the new answer for everything should be put it in the trash or screw 'em.
Try the tape trick to isolate then go to the door edge to finalize.
I get where you're coming from and I'm new so i could be wrong, but i really appreciate this place. I have chinese halo led headlights, one of the most frowned-upon things that exist around here but I'm not afraid to say it. I really feel like the people here will give you a hard time if you don't follow the paradigm, but it's all good. I think what happened in this thread was a guy who's been there, done that, fixed the problem for $3 at home depot was getting buried with $150 solutions. Nobody even considered he may be right. And while some of the more active/vocal members don't really like light bars (or halos) apparently he uses one.

Like i said, I'm pretty new, but some of these guys have been doing this forever. Listen to them. The only reason for their frustration is because they are really sure they know the answer and nobody seems to care.

I like it here. I don't think I've ever seen a question answered with "use the search". That's huge.

I would first listen to the guy with a proven track record who suggests a simple $3 fix before attempting much else. The interesting thing is that is you do this and you take the time to understand why it works, it will inform the way in which you approach other problems. This way of thinking might save you $130 someday.

As far as the friendliness of the forum and paradigms are concerned, this place is fairly good at assessing and dissecting tech, function and usability before fixating on brand names and blindly following trends. There is also a foundational desire to teach others how to think with some criticality rather than just tell people what to do.

If a certain brand or particular product or set of ideas has gained some prominence, then I would like to think that these have survived some manner of objective and critical assessment. That is why you don't see much push for rear sway bar disconnects around here. It's a dumb idea and several here can do a pretty good job of explaining why.

This place is quite friendly. More importantly, this place is helpful. And it also isn't a free for all where everything gets a pass simply because it has been declared to be awesome.

But, one person's awesome is another one's garbage. We do need to keep an open mind about things.

And, remember that there is always more than one way to skin a cat.

Fuck this...
Fuck that...

Yeah, yeah, yeah...

You're my kind of guy.

An open mind does not equate to a free for all. There are many ways to remove the skin from a cat. They don't all end the same way. Some things are objectively not awesome regardless of arguments to the contrary. :)

Absolutely, I’ve seen many people here try to go down the path of other forums where they say “this is awesome because it is” but here most great ideas are welcomed and then broken down by technical aspects. One of the reasons I come back here every day!

I'm flattered, but you'll have to wait until Blaine gives me back my pink sequined miniskirt before we can go out.

I like using a string trimmer, but it doesn't work very well on larger cats, and it doesn't work at all on tigers. In fact, it just seems to piss them off, and then I end up spending the night in a tree.

Some things are objectively not awesome regardless of arguments to the contrary.

Problem is...

I'm just kind of feeling sorry for this poor cat you all are skinning. Got to hurt. :D

On a serious note. I have to say even though some people don't like a particular modification and they let you know they don't, they don't dis own you because you do like that mod. They will still help you in other areas, even if this may not be one they can or want too. I actually became a supporting member because I like the help I get here and even though some don't like my crazy mods I have done, they still are nice and helpful.

So my suggestion is, just read the comments that say to throw it way or what ever, with a grain of salt. Read and get the info you want from those who suggest things, and just scroll past the posts that don't like the mod. :D

Just my take on it. :D

If it were me, I think I would try to adjust the angle. Seems to be the easiest and cheapest suggestion to try. :D

I wish to make myself some cat pants. Is a weed whacker the best method to harvest the hides or is there a better way to accomplish what I need for this arts and crafts project?

If you're looking for a hide remover, you should just get a Cat-O-Matic with mil-spec anodizing and 4340 chromo blades, because it's the best. I bought one, and it's bad-ass, dude. I haven't used it yet.

I was hoping for someone to say that this cat pants project is objectively not awesome AND that the method is ill advised. :)

I'll just sit here scratching my knee while talking baby talk to an empty room.

The PO of my 2000 Sahara installed a light bar on the top of the windshield. It works well and it looks good also. Problem is at highway speed there is a whistling sound that is so loud I have to turn the stereo up to drown it out. Does anyone else have this problem and has anyone found a fix for this?
Remove the light bar. My .02c.

If you must keep it, follow @mrblaine and @S.McArthur advice.

Here is the problem with that. It is the equivalent to saying that your rear view mirror vibrates unless you tilt it down then it no longer shakes. Great, it doesn't shake any longer but the damn thing is useless. Light bars tend to work best when you angle them so the light is shined out in front of you, not up, not down, out in front and that is not a very wide adjustment. That is unless you are channeling Sundowner and you mean to angle it all the way into the trash can in which case, carry on.

I'm fairly fascinated with how you attempted to disguise your alternate gender lifestyle with a arts and crafts project instead of the more accurate wardrobe advice. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

BTW- which sneaky fucker sanitized the thread? It lacks a certain continuity.

I find that a sharp, forceful, spiking-the-ball-into-someone's-face movement works best, accompanied by a loud expletive.

Also, if someone needs to channel me, I am best summoned from the Netherworld by offerings of scotch and gummy bears.

How many sneaky fuckers are in residence around here? Can't be too many...

Also, cat-pants are so very fascinating, aren't they?
