The grand cherokee wk2 is actually easier to change the oil than the wrangler.

The filter is easier to reach!

See what you do is smash your drain plug and bottom of oil pan on a rock so that you no longer need to change your oil! Don’t know who woulda done that….

On a side note, I also send my oil to Blackstone for analysis every other oil change or so. Great way to check out engine health and make sure nothing is going bad.

Changing the oil is cheep to pay someone else.

But I do my other routine maintenance... like rotating the headlights, tuning the horn, lubing the brake pads to keep them from squeaking ... all the normal stuff.

I just moved somewhere new and the HOA says no working on any vehicles. Luckily NTB (National Tire & Battery) always has $20 oil change and tire rotations (with online coupon). It saves my old ass from lifting the 100lb. tire/wheels.

You have to be careful with shop oil changes the mechanic might tell the oil rag changer to just use that left over 20w-60

Local Jeep Dealership picks it up from work, changes the oil and drives it back. The cost is only slightly higher then doing it myself. Plus it has become a pain to get anyone to take oil or any other fluids around here. So during the winter months I let the dealer deal with oil changes.

I worked at parts store a long time ago. The quick change place down the street would call two or three times a day to order new drain plugs. Not the stock replacement plugs, but the oversized self threading type. Needless to say I change my own oil.

We used to dump it onto the ground at the bottom of the driveway to help prevent washout.

My dad used to tell me how his buddies just poured used oil down the drain in the kitchen

Used to use it to start brush fires. That and a hand sprayer full of diesel fuel.

I like to use leftover oil to start brush piles. The amount of time it would take to drive to a shop and let them do it I can change oil in my truck, jeep, wife's car and still have enough time for a quick nap.

Put another way, owners fuck up their drain plugs and send it through Jiffy Lube in hopes they can blame them and get a new oil pan out of the deal. Jiffy Lube tech is going "ha ha, fuck this guy. We've played this game before, call up Autozone and get one of them oversize plugs. Fix it right up".

Disposing of oil I have never had a problem with. I keep my old oil in a 5 gal bucket. Once its full I take it to advance auto parts where they have a used oil tank along with a used coolant tank.
