I'll finish this project tomorrow morning. But it's almost done now.

If I'd kept the fiberglass hood I was going to eventually paint it. Put it's already cracking on one spot and I'd imagine it'd crack in more once I was flexin off-road.
I do like the heat reduction hood but I REALLY wish I'd bought a real steel one when I had the chance. Olympic 4WD had a blemish one for a while that was already painted White for like $400 in 2005. Kick myself now for not buying it...

This will work better with all the goings on under the hood anyhow. Should have it installed tomorrow and hopefully have the hood pin latches done by Sunday.

Sorry everyone I'd forgotten about this video this morning and it'd stalled loading at some point but I was able to get it started again and got it loaded.

I'm still trying to get used to this engine. Totally different than either of my Magnum engines were like. And all this is in a GOOD way. I've of course got to get it off-road so I can test out the low end torque but so far I'm impressed.

I'd sent off my latest date logging Thursday & got the new tune for the Jeep yesterday form Ryan. He feels that we're really close to having the tune nailed down. Once I get the new sensors installed I'll take it for another road test and data log some of my driving for him to verify that he's got things where he wants them.

Alright, I'm going to try and give this thread a go..

I too am also trying to do a hemi conversion on my 05 Rubicon. I literally started mine the month before the whole world shut down for covid 2 years ago. Then I got laid off for 3 months and wasn't sure about how stable my job was after that. Then early last year I had a post frame building built. About the time time it was being finished my wife got covid in July and was on the hospital until October and has been going through physical therapy since then. So I guess needless to say the Jeep HEMI swap has been on the back burner.

Of course when I want them I can't find them... When I was installing the fiberglass hood I had the hood bolts in my hand. But the fiberglass hood didn't have nuts inbeded in it for the hood bolts. So I'd bought regular bolts to install it.
Now that I want to install the steel hood i of course can't find the hood bolts..... I could have taken them over to my storage unit when I was trying to clean things up some before I'd started the Hemi swap. Or they are just put in a box here in the garage 🙄....

All the bolts are tightened down and the steel hood is ready to set onto the Jeep.

I know I'll find them but just frustrated.

Okay, I'll be the first to admit that I had a different approach to my conversion than what most of the guys are doing. My plan was to do a build that would look as close to as if it came this way from the factory.
Yes, I guess it's a bona fide mall crawler.. Not that it wouldn't be capable of whatever the factory Rubicon was capable of off-road plus maybe a little more. It's just that I don't really have any place close by to do any wheeling. Years ago we had a few places close and I've done about 30 years of Wheeling in various different vehicles over the years. This particular Wrangler happened to be so nice and clean when I got it that I decided to keep it that way and go this route. I'm sure it's not everybody's cup of tea especially in this group and forum. Don't get me wrong I would absolutely love to have a rig like Jeff or Rick has I just decided to do a little different build.

But I guess to answer the original question, yes I do drive it fairly often when the weather is nice and I guess I have between a 1000 and 1200 mi on it since I got it done.

You built it for YOU. Screw anyone who doesn't agree or like what you've done.
You did a stellar job on your Hemi swap and you achieved your goal of making it look as if Jeep offered the Hemi in your Jeep. You have a rig any of us would be proud to have in our driveway.

Now let's get the fiberglass hood off so I can remove the hood pin latches and then get the steel hood mounted onto the Jeep so I can start the process of installing the hood pin latches on it.
