Wildpeaks versus KO2

Yea, I'm not really interested in running adapters but those 392 wheels look good.

I threw my current wheels and tires up on marketplace to test the waters on a wheel/tire swap but no luck so far. Just a couple people throwing out lowball offers to buy.

I was very hesitant to run adapters, but got over it. The JK, JT, JL wheels open up a lot of options for us. And, most of the negativity towards them is from bad installation/use practices.

The one downside is I don't want to bore these out, so I'll not run a small or large hub kit. Frankly, I was inclined to not do that anyway.

It would definitely hurt to bore them out but a big part of the draw for me is the large backspacing and how much flexibility it offers in keeping a narrow scrub radius with the small hub kit.

If I wasnt considering the hub kit I could probably find something I like 90% as much for half the price. I already run spacers anyway so I'm not scared of that, but few if any aftermarket wheels offer the right backspacing for the hub kit or enough to take a hub kit and still fit a spacer or adapter.

I'm interested in your approach to the different spacers. The front is pretty much dictated by tire clearance but what's behind the desire to run 1.5" narrower WMS in the rear?

The tires in the rear clear with no issues at full stuff with the 1.25 adapter. Plus, this lets me offset the front to rear tracking slightly for the sloppy conditions we routinely see in my area.

Didn’t Savvy win KOE EMC a couple years in a row on Wildpeaks?

(Whether thanks to or in spite of them)

IIRC that’s right, and the reason they won had nothing to do with the tires, but that was Falken’s claim afterward. People are so gullible. You really just have to know stuff to see through all the bull. 🙄

I tried JK wheels on my TJ. I suddenly had a crank no start condition until a switched back to TJ wheels.

One of the things they claim that makes them better is the deep treads. Said they shed water and snow better. LOL

I've run both the Wildpeaks and KO2s. Tire performance is pretty much identical. On the plus side, a set of Wildpeaks can be picked up cheap. They came on JLs and people offload them all the time. Of course these are 17" tires, but $800 to $1000 will get you a set of 5 JL wheels and tires like these. This set was 285/70R17. The only major difference I'm aware of is the KO2 will have a 3 ply sidewall, vs the Wildpeaks 2 ply.

This member is like a K Mart radio. He doesn’t play. The underside of this jeep is probably cleaner than what you see.

We wouldn’t know each other if we fell on each other...but like a lot of guys here, he has his own flair, and it rocks.

His Jeep is one of the cleanest I've seen and I LOVE the color. I used to run the rocks that will pucker your butthole in a hurry. Now I don't. I respect whatever anyone wants to do with their Jeep.

My only experience with the Wild Peaks wasn't a good one, so I've been gun-shy about getting them for MY TJ. I had them on one of my Silverados a few years ago and in the first 300 miles, ran over a beer bottle in the road and got a flat. A piece of the glass pierced all the way through a tread block. I'd never had that happen before. I plugged it and carried on. While they're performance in all conditions was decent, I ended up only getting about 27k miles out of them. The Mastercrafts & Generals I'd ran before and after always netted me around 60k miles. Wondering if something has changed/improved with the Wildpeaks since that time..

I ended up with General Grabber A/Ts and have been pretty happy, but will try something different when they wear out. I run Sumitomo Encounter A/T on my truck now and it's been my favorite tire. Also have them on the fiancé's JKU and ran them on my last 2 vehicles. If I never took the TJ offroad, they'd be my choice for it as well.
