Im replacing my WRG rope and thimble with a new WRG rope and thimble.

Let's pretend I can effectively create loops on the ends of the rope I'm replacing for the purpose of creating a lightweight easily stored/carried extension.

If the extension rope breaks, is there enough potential energy to throw the thimble at me that is attached to end of my winch rope?

Both are going to hurt. Would you rather be hit by a steel hook or by a Safety Thimble.

If I must choose what I would rather be hit with, lady parts....lady parts is what I would rather be hit with!

Guess that answers that....no homemade extension rope

None of that should stop you from making an extension rope. I have two that I made from old ropes. And I have a lot of soft shackles.
