Hi All,

I'm in the process of merging a 1957 Willys pickup with a 2004 Wrangler LJ. I'm a big fan of classic sheet metal on modern running gear. After a loooooong time, the frame is finally stretched and most of the body is Willys body is on. We had to stretch the frame about 20in in total. We used frame rails out of another wrecked Wrangler LJ, so they are the same size. Fish plates were added to the inside of the rails.

I've had some info on this over at the Old Willys forum, but now that I am into to Wrangler side of things, I thought I'd post it here.

The Willys had an inline Ford 6cylinder in it when I picked it up, mated to the factory 3 speed manual. I haven't reinstalled the rear fenders yet, as I'm waiting to get the engine bits sorted out.

I installed a 2.5in lift on the TJ and 32in tires. With the stretch, everything sits quite nicely. I'll post a pic.

Very cool, I take it you’re sticking with the Ford inline 6?

And welcome to the forum!

No, it has the Wrangler 4.0L and 42RLE in it at the moment. Guess I could have explained that better in the post!

Amazing project.

I always wanted one of those old Willys pickups. My boss had a forest green '57 in the mid 1970s, straight six. He added a turbocharger, but never got it quite right, too much lag.

Please post updates and photos as you go.
