Would it be ridiculous to sell a 2016 JKU to buy a TJ?

I just need strangers opinions lol - would it be ridiculous to sell a 2016 JKU to buy a TJ?
Also, what are the common problems to look for when buying a TJ in 2021 😅

edit: for my DD, not trail rig.

I’m not experienced with the JKU but the well base is obviously a lot longer and I’ve seen TJs go up things JKUs can’t but vis versa. I personally like the tjs better more my style. You will also be able to build out the tj a lot with all the extra money from JK

Just like everyone else so far I’d agree the TJ is the best era of the Wrangler, specifically the LJ Rubicon, especially if you’re building a wheelin rig. That said as a DD your JKU is probably better suited.

a TJ DD that isnt rusted out and beat to heck is hard to find for a reasonable price. I agree with the DD JKU its a lil more comfy and in 10 years will be lest rusty than a tj

The TJ is my favorite without question but don't forget there are those that have seen a JKU do things the TJ struggles with.

As for a DD it's not really a comparison. The JK is just better

Commons issues with a TJ in 2021,
RUST!!!!!!
Bad wiring done by someone in their garage
Frame warped
Bad seals on everything AND I MEAN EVERYTHING
Ugly seats
Heatercore rusted
slow wiper speed
poor insulation
Poor sound system *compared to new jeep*

Pro
Can rip it apart and put back together pretty easy if you got the skill+will.
If its ugly its ok.
Can beat up on it.
OG status.
Round headlights not like those YJ guys..........eww

OP stated DD, non trail rig
In that case I would much rather have the JKU as the daily driver. Having owned both I think that the road-manners of the JK are much better than that of a TJ. Though I will say my TJ is very, very close after Blaine got done with it.

Keep the JKU. My brother has a 2016 and there's no comparison in ride comfort or power. That being said, he always says his TJ was more fun to drive and he wishes he would have kept both. He gave the JKU to his wife to drive now.

It is 100% personal preference, nobody can tell you your favorite color. I'd pick a TJ over the JK or JL any day for a daily. In fact I do choose mine over a newer Jeep every time I get into it, it's not like I couldn't get one of the others. I don't like drive by wire throttle, don't like all the whistles and bells the newer vehicles have and I don't like the larger vehicle. For me the oldest thing I can find with seat belts and airbags is what I call a perfect daily driver. I'd go older but I don't consider it safe on the roads where I live, people drive worse and worse every day out here. If you enjoy the TJ don't let somebody else tell you that you shouldn't.

This ^^^^^^

I would never rid a JKU for a TJ buy can you obtain both? 😎

Moreover if I HAD to do it...
I'd trade for a 2 door JK. Or better yet a 2 door JL
