Wrangler TJ EV Conversion

Say more please.

If OD = Over Drive, I'm a tad lost, explain.

They are an electronically controlled overdrive/underdrive unit. In other words, two gear ratios that can be engaged or disengaged on the fly. The only thing I’m not sure of is if a Gear vendors or a similar two speed will give you enough of a gear split to make it useful to you. If I remember correctly, they are available in married and divorced units.

Though, now that I am saying this out loud in a voice to text situation, I am realizing this is not a very feasible idea in a TJ due to the short wheelbase.

I was thinking you would be able to eliminate the transmission altogether and attach the overdrive unit to the rear output of the transfer case giving you a freeway gear for 2wd situations.

I believe the gear vendors overdrive would have a lower weight and more compact form factor, as well as less rotational mass. Though, you would need an adapter from the motor to the transfer case.

Edit: maybe it’s possible to put in between the motor and the transfer case to give you a Gear split in both 2wd and four-wheel-drive.

God, are you guys cheating, bugging my mind...?

So, in this early phase of R&D >to> internal Kit >to> refined modular User Installable Kit, the path is using ONLY what's on the Jeep from the factory PLUS the motor swap to EV. Stock TC bolted to either the stock manual transmission or to a reduction unit to the TC.

Building a drive unit, such as you've suggested - input powered TC with live syncrio 2-speed is VERY simular to a 4-speed TC idea that accompoishes the same thing.

BUT, your way or my way, not that far apart BUT VERY FAR away from any test.

If I keep designing, nothing gets done, nobody tries to destroy it and report back, nobody achieves 50k miles and tear it apart and tells us all how it looks.

The V2 4x4 2-speed Drive Unit centered on the Jeep to allow for identical and swappable prop-shafts is the goal.

But not yet.

Repower first, re-gear next.
