Arizona Rock Crawler

I know I'm late to the party but did you find a yoke?

I think this is one from a Dana 30.

Started the HP30 build on an easy note today by replacing the o-ring in the bulkhead fitting for the ARB locker. Blaine warned me that most people overtighten the center compression nut, which smashes the o ring down between the bulkhead body and the tube. Sure enough this one was smashed in there pretty good. Blaine was kind enough to give me a spare.

I also pulled the carrier bearing caps off to check the carrier bearing preload since Blaine said the sister rear axle did not have enough. I could not pull it out by hand but was getting some movement on the right side. I’m going to pick up some shims and add a shim or 2 to each side to snug it up a bit.

Might think about getting the new 6mm air supply line kit.

The 171321 Pressure Supply kit will convert your existing ARB Air Locker with the blue air line to the new thicker wall 6mm black airline. Must have the 3.5mm internal copper line.

No longer do you have that problem of overtightening the fitting and you can install it inline or 90* offset.

Here are the install instructions.

That looks nice. Thanks for showing me. I’ve already got all the normal stuff setup with spares so I might as well use it but that’s what I will go to for sure if I ever need to replace anything

I’ve got a couple of 170114’s coming from Amazon, they were $13 when I ordered. Now they are $21. Keep them in a pricewatch or in your cart and watch for a good price.

I'd needed to replace the fitting on my rear axle so I figured it was a good time to upgrade. @NashvilleTJ was the one who posted about them when he did his 14B swap.

My apologies for not being more clear. The o-ring gets tightened down and squashed so much that it collapses the copper tube to almost closed shut. That's what you need to check, the o-ring is just collateral damage.

I have all that stuff here. I'm not a fan of the airline. I'll send you some if you want to see why.

You mean not a fan of the new 6mm black line, Blaine? What’s the issue? I still run the blue stuff, but have considered switching.

You were probably clear, Im just very slow at understanding until I can dig in there and get a good visual of how everything works. Now that I’ve seen it that totally makes sense. I’ll go double check the copper tube to be sure but the O-ring did not seem to be squished in there badly enough to damage the copper tube.

Hadn't contemplated such things as of yet, but thanks for the idea. I shall now work on new and improved packaging methods.

Given your newly discovered talents of turning cubes into spheres, maybe some variation of hydroforming is in order.

It is like that synthetic winch line that has the braided sleeve covering the outside of it. All the disadvantages of steel without the full advantages of synthetic.

The black airline is very stiff. When you unroll it, you have to run it and zip tie it off every few feet to keep it in place. Very not fun to work with and while I'm sure it is more robust than the blue, I've never had a single issue with the blue. They solved a problem we don't have and now those with piles of spare line, fittings, and other bits have to try and figure out what gets swapped around in order to keep up with the latest generation crap. At least it is a different color so we can sorta keep track. Sorta but not really since TJM uses a black air line as does Yukon neither of which are the same size as the ARB.
