Is the 32RH a good transmission?

Who makes the fender flairs?
Bushwhacker, and avoid them like the plague if you go offroad in areas that have anything that can snag them or push into them. Mine lasted a few hours on the trail before getting pulled away, mangled and pretty much destroyed. They're thin, flimsy, and much of them is held on with double-sided tape.

At least you had an Anti-Rock! That must have been way back when!

Those pics are from 2009, not all that long ago... just before that TJ was stolen. They were taken on Sunbonnet in JV where I spent much of the day getting hung up and un-hung up from rocks. Blaine was spotting me but not even he could help my bad driving that day lol.

I wish you could get that one back! Great rig. Looked like good times in JV!

Oh my that’s shitty. What is a good alternative?

I've tried several and I haven't found any to be a good extended fender flare. Certainly nothing from Bushwhacker, their other model called the Pocket Flare is prone to cracking which is how that company also became known by some as Bushcracker. I'm no longer running any plastic or vinyl fender flares.

Your question is like asking what year Yugo is the best. Were talking Chrysler built trannys here remember.Slap a 80ies 727 in it and your good to go.

I'd love to have another 32RH, it's a great transmission design! Ford even unsuccessfully tried to buy the manufacturing rights for it from Chrysler who wanted more than Ford was willing to pay.
And one of the very best automatic transmission designs to have ever come out of Detroit. Ford even tried to buy the manufacturing rights to the 32RH but Chrysler wanted too much $$$ for them.

Old thread still true.

A 42rle isn't an issue with a little more torque even with 35s.

I have two tj's, 01 sport with a 32rh and an 03 rubicon with a 5 speed. I would LOVE to have that 205,000 mile 32rh in the 80,000 mile rubi. That trans has never been out and seems to be perfect. You will love it

I know I’m 4 years late but I can’t believe everyone is calling the 32rh a good transmission. I have that mated to the 2.5L and I would never think to call it a good transmisión. It’s desperately needs a 4th gear.

Well they hold up behind 1000 hp dragsters, but that 2.5 is more of a 30rh and a 2.5 couldn’t pull 4th gear on anything but a downhill grade.

As above, your transmission is actually a 30RH, a lighter duty version of the 32RH used with the 4.0 engine. If you're not having great performance with that transmission, it's likely there is a mismatch between your axle ratio and your tire size. What size are your tires and do you know if your axles are geared to 3.07, 3.55, or 3.73?

Look at the 9 o'clock position on the differential covers, there's a tag bolted there that will have your ratio embossed into it. This one below indicates the gears inside have a 3.73 ratio.

I’m 58 now,I grew up with lots of small block mopars with the 904 transmission,I never had to touch or rebuild any of them, can’t say the same for my gm and fords.

I replied to a similar post from you elsewhere yesterday but, again, yours is the 30RH. The 32RH only goes behind the 4.0 engine. And while a 4th gear is often a good thing, it's not always a good thing... take the 42RLE 4-speed transmission. Its 4th gear/overdrive drops the rpms down so low most people are close to or are lugging the engines with it.

Since you're complaining about your engine rpms, what size tires are you running and what axle ratio is in your axles? I gave you a photo of where the tag is so you can figure out your ratio. Not to mention if you had the 32RH behind the 4.0 you'd have an entirely different opinion of the 32RH.
