this is a 1" solid bar the tabs are 1/2", those cut tubes will get welded 50/50 through the channels to spread load. this would slide close enough to run a mower tractor up or out to about an 88" wheel center.

just not sure those tabs anchored into a 3x3x3/16" square tube would hold up to 3k a side without that 3/16" givin some. i feel i might be best if i capped the tube with a nice angle and it anchored to the tube and the tabs anchored to it would be betterer. at the cost of some extra dead weight for the stiffeners.

a shot of that coupler too. looks like i did ok that is sitting about level trailer and i'd have to lift that an inch to hook it up. still needs gussets. 1 spot for a truck 2" lower and several up for taller rigs.
and an i'm old step for each side.

The farm and implement paint is good stuff. Run down to TSC and pick up the paint, some reducer and Hardener and spray it from a HF 20 dollar gun. I've used it quite a bit on mower decks, tractors, trailers, things that take a beating. It takes a while to fully cure (like a week) but it dries hard. Its not powdercoat hard, but its SO much better than rattlecans. Its the same base as the rustoleum already there too (alkyd enamel) so you shouldn't have compatibility issues.

Here is my last tractor I painted with that paint. The hardener gives it some shine and durability.

I've actually contemplated being "that guy" and painting the jeep with it...but I can't justify the work to paint without doing it right. The Farm and implement stuff doesn't have the UV protection like a good automotive paint does, so something that sits outside all the time is going to fade.

That tractor truly is simplicity. It reminds me of an old hardtail motorcycle! (y)

What does that ramp look like from the side...it appears to be pretty steep (high trailer with short ramps).

i'm on the shallow side of 45*. it's sittin down on the lawn a couple inches. i can always work out some fold out extensions if needed, the front end should be up on the deck b4 the back wheels begin up. remember i'm pretty long between wheels now. but yes i kept um short because they are already heavy.

ahh i just like simple and plain and uniform, it just lines up this way. being a fitter and not a designer, i'm wingin it here and that can cost mistakes like that wheel space issue, for me the mistake just becomes a work around that has to be handled.

Have you looked at aluminum ramps? they really aren't that expensive for what you're getting.

i have looked, 4-600$, plus the increased risk of them being stolen.
then the only place they'll fit is flat on the deck requiring them to be chained down and locked. nobody's gonna even look twice at these ramps. IDK this is 1 of those things i'm just gonna have to see if and how well it works out or make an adjustment.

When I first got my current trailer, the ramps had those triangulated drop down load supports under them. Unless I was in a paved parking lot they were a royal pain in the ass. Get on an unlevel dirt or gravel spot and I either could not get them down, or could not get them up. Since the jeep doesn’t need that support if the trailer is hooked to the truck, I cut them off. Much easier to manage now. For the rare occasion hauling a big tractor or piece of equipment, I carry a couple of foot long 6x6’s in the box. Low tech, but it works for me.

You have no jack legs at the back end? No worries about the hitch pulling the truck up from the ball?
 
At my 108 wheelbase my front end should be at the humps by the time my rear wheels start up those ramps.
 
well since i already planned to support things i rekon all i need to do then is be sure those tabs have a solid wall to hang from so i'll dig up some angles and mount my tabs to that then mount all that to top and face of that 3/16" tube. that'll give it a brace it can't tweek.


i know those ramps seem short but i'ma try um like this a few times be sure it's comfortable and not to sketchy.......i did already make some super duty hinges from 1/2" bars, if i need to extend them they'll be fold overs instead of elongating what will be carried upright or flipped onto the deck, haven't decided on that either was gonna play with it more b4 anything is made permanent.

lookin at how most of y'all carry a rig on a dual axle trailer i think my rear wheels will be right at that hump and be where i sit or real close to it.

Wow, you and I are looking at different ramps. And I was thinking more about ones that were attached to the trailer. Flip them down to load and back up to tow it.

I have never had any type of support or legs on my ramps on the 3 different trailers I've owned. My current one is dovetailed and I don't use the ramps for the Jeep. Yes it rocks the truck around. I set the parking brake as added precaution. My gooseneck trailer had landing legs in the rear but they were there for when it was parked and unhooked from the truck. I never used them when loading the Jeep.

the only thing i saw in aluminum were like extra beefy ATV ramps. i didn't see anything that would be mounted ;permanent.............i'll look again with a different search criteria.
