What did you do to your TJ today?

Drove it for the first time since the 8.8 swap. Dialing in the pinion angle and going for another drive. Hopefully that’s all I need to eliminate these vibrations.

I installed a transmission temperature gauge connected to a sending unit located in the Dorman transmission pan drain-plug. While I had the pan and sensor in place for a while, I finally got to install the gauge.

The transmission temps are normally in the 160-180 range around town/freeway driving. I took a drive up a local trail the over the weekend, and my transmission temps climbed into the 220-230 degree range. Air temp was in the 80s and the engine coolant temps were 195-208 according to my ODB2 gauge. I “checked” the temp of the transmission pan with an IR temp sensor. It read close to the gauge. The trail is mild, but rocky and climbs 4000 feet over 10-ish miles. Slow speed, 2WD. I did lower my tire pressure down to 15psi for ride comfort.

I have a recently installed Mopar radiator and water pump. I use Valvoline ATF+4, and the level is correct.

I have now ordered the Derale transmission cooler. This will be next weekend’s job. Kind of a bummer to spend Jeep money on a hidden item, but will feel better about long term reliability of the driveline

Finally installed my DEI fuel rail insulation kit. I was waiting to do it until I got some rebuilt injectors.

I wasn’t looking for a performance or mileage increase, but I was having an issue with smooth idle and misfire codes at idle. And I’ll say the injectors seem to have done what I wanted.

On startup, it had a much smoother and stronger idle. It used to idle rough at startup, and if I didn’t rev it a bit, it would throw a misfire code.

On my test ride, I could feel it had much better throttle feel, quicker pickup, smoother and faster exceleration. And make no mistake, it’s no race car, but it runs unmistakably better.

So, I’m happy with the results.

And the DEI kit was easy to install, and fit very well.

I bought the injectors from K Suspension, the same folks I got my Viper coil kit from. They’re 4 hole Ford, and fit perfectly, and at $120 bucks, I thought that they were a good deal. I like those guys, very helpful with dumb questions! 🤣

I bought the DEI kit after having run the Jeep hard in Sacramento traffic on a 100+ degree day for hours on end and started having heat related issues.

Have any other pictures of the mounting base you made? Really considering mounting my amp there as well

I do not have any more pictures. I used a piece of 1/4" aluminum sitting on the shelf. Attached two aluminum "L" bracelet to it with pop rivets. There are several threads on here showing this same type of installation.

Brought the pinion up and took it for another drive. Everything feels great! No vibrations, brakes work well and bringing the axle forward helps me a lot. The JJ’s are finally silent after all these years! Who knew they weren’t supposed to sound horrendous when flexing lol

ps, don’t buy LightDOT tail lights.

Not very exciting, but I recalibrated my Coyote deflators. I bought them set to 12PSI (run 31s at 29PSI for highway), which was way too low and took a long time to inflate at the end of the day. I set them for 20 for my main trail type (rocks) and I’ll manually lower from there to 15 for the couple of times a year that I drive in sand. It took about an hour to adjust, test, reinflate, test, etc all 4, but worth the time I’ll save deflating & inflating.

Because most folks here have found out over the years, there are better solutions than a High Lift jack.
What are the better solutions than a High Lift jack ( I don't like them ) , awaiting your answer pregnant with anticipation !

p.s. PM me if you need to .... wouldn't want you banded !

I probably would run better without the rag stuffed in the throttle body.

OEM factory bottle jack and a scrap piece of wood.

Thanks , what I use now , have two of them in fact. I have a scissor jack in my Escape that I like and I was thinking about getting one of those and welding a couple of U's on them to cradle the axle. Just don't trust the bottle jacks not to slip off.

These are really good too... a little pricey... https://safejacks.com/
