I would have just pointed out the many well thought out features of the SAVVY aluminum bumper instead of uninformed bashing of everything else you don’t want him to spend his money on, It’s that good and worth waiting for, prove me wrong.

I was told by Gerald on 10/6 that it would be 2 - 3 weeks for the fairlead to ship, and that a label was created. The three weeks is up at the end of this week, so we'll see!

I am way out of my element, but feeling the need to show some ignorance.
Aluminum is lighter and I can see why there are some passionate responses here. But aluminum has its weaknesses which can to some extent depend on its series, how it is treated, when it is treated and when the shaping occurs. 6061can be as prone to cracking as 5000 series. There are some applications where a series is better for certain tasks, but in the end, aluminum likes to fail earlier in the fatigue cycle than let's say steel. The huge advantage is weight, but at 600 bucks, my guess is the manufacturers are obtaining a series and then shaping. The metal is already heat treated before the process not during to obtain a desired characteristic.. I might be wrong tho..

Mine too. Nevermind that the OP wanted something comparable to Savvy. That isn't Genright, based on my experience. But again, that doesn't really matter until it does, as evidenced by your experience with GR.

Correct. Not even Savvy is heat treating after fabrication. That is why the corner reenforcements exist. And if you pay attention to these discussions and some history, the original intent was to include the corners as standard equipment.

If the right mineral replacement occurred to the doo-doo and the shape was right you might be able to run it as a front bumper, IF you got the corner reinforcements. Stranger shit has happened.
You have some of it correct. 6061 in the T6 temper is very prone to cracking if the bend radius is too small. One of the tell tale signs that a manufacturer can be stretching the truth a bit in the description is how tight the bends are. It is never more prone to cracking than the 50xx series even in the highest tempers.
A big advantage is weight but the other aspect that helps for armor is how close the tensile is to ultimate yield. That shortens the fatigue life at high stresses but it also makes it very resistant to bending and denting. We get near full ultimate yield in use. Since bumpers and armor are not continually stressed and only see the occasional smack and bump here and there , the fatigue life span is of little consequence. Even for control arms, they are being stressed in the most fatigue resistant way possible being tension and compression so they will never fail in those directions.
