Wow! What an ordeal. Change of ownership Sun Outdoors included name changes.. wait for it.. except on maps. 3 hours of hunt'n peck and 2 phone calls gets me a Cottonwood cabin at Canyonlands Gateway, which turns out to be only 10 miles from Sun Outdoors "Moab Downtown" that had no availability that meets my needs.
Started out looking for a tent site at KOA for $80/ then the other campground tent site at $50/ for me solo to then asking the wife if she and the 6 year old twin girls would come along if I got decent accommodations. It was a yes, so I'm booked 6/8 - 6/15 (check out). Last day of school is the 6th so works well. Just couldn't find a way to get the 5'er and the LJ to Moab in one swoop. Will trailer the LJ with the F350.
Caveat: I'll likely be looking at/for milder trails or maybe work my way up to the tougher stuff. One trick I'll have to try is getting grandma out of bed early enough to meet up with folks (she's 2 hours prepping + the newly acquired grand daughters). I don't expect special treatment or wanna interfere with groups' plans, ya'll do what you do and I'll figure it out. Will see if a local TJ buddy or 2 might want to join us. Don't suppose anyone would balk if I brought a friend with a JK...lol.
Gal at Canyonlands says bring bug repellant for gnats. I have that stuff in every pocket of every vehicle.. slight exaggeration.
Give this bucket list item a shot.
EDIT: ..and my SwayLoc shipped from Poly Performance today.
