Utah Moab 2024 JuneFest 9th-15th

I'd stayed at the Canyonlands RV park both times I went before. They had a pool which was important since my daughter was younger back then. They are cheaper than the KOA and have cabins and other accommodations for those that don't have an RV... Just throwing it out there.

It is under different ownership since the last time I was there. One note they do allow tents on RV sites. They just have to be taken down during the day.
Wow! What an ordeal. Change of ownership Sun Outdoors included name changes.. wait for it.. except on maps. 3 hours of hunt'n peck and 2 phone calls gets me a Cottonwood cabin at Canyonlands Gateway, which turns out to be only 10 miles from Sun Outdoors "Moab Downtown" that had no availability that meets my needs.

Started out looking for a tent site at KOA for $80/ then the other campground tent site at $50/ for me solo to then asking the wife if she and the 6 year old twin girls would come along if I got decent accommodations. It was a yes, so I'm booked 6/8 - 6/15 (check out). Last day of school is the 6th so works well. Just couldn't find a way to get the 5'er and the LJ to Moab in one swoop. Will trailer the LJ with the F350.

Caveat: I'll likely be looking at/for milder trails or maybe work my way up to the tougher stuff. One trick I'll have to try is getting grandma out of bed early enough to meet up with folks (she's 2 hours prepping + the newly acquired grand daughters). I don't expect special treatment or wanna interfere with groups' plans, ya'll do what you do and I'll figure it out. Will see if a local TJ buddy or 2 might want to join us. Don't suppose anyone would balk if I brought a friend with a JK...lol.

Gal at Canyonlands says bring bug repellant for gnats. I have that stuff in every pocket of every vehicle.. slight exaggeration.

Give this bucket list item a shot.

EDIT: ..and my SwayLoc shipped from Poly Performance today.

You’ve got enough Jeep for anything we’ll do and most trails have bypasses other than Pritchett.

We are fairly good at getting people accustomed to the trails. Right @Woodrow ?

I’ll add you to the first post.

Thank you sir!

One of my TJ buddies will book tomorrow. I think he joined the forum a week or so ago.

Welcome aboard. Hoping I'll be able to make it also. Miss wheeling there and would like to put some faces to names at some point.

Ya, I'd like to shake some hands.

Did the same type forum thing building my '70 GS Stage 1.

Ended up racing it at Bremerton ('07-ish) in order to meet my compadres. What a blast!

Doubt any of you northwesterners would drive Boise - Elko but if the timing is right on the 8th we might catch you on the road SLC - Moab.

Will surely have the GMRS dialed to an appropriate channel.

Not my normal route but who knows. I haven't added a radio to my motorhome. Might have to look into that but I'll have a handheld with me.

Ya, I'd like to shake some hands.

It'd be nice after all this time.
