Hello all members,
This site has helped me more than anyone can imagine. Its such a luxury to be in contact with all of so many extremely knowledgeable Jeep owners. Thank all of you very much. This post is just something that might make things easier for a member. I apologize if it is a little lengthy. Yesterday I was snow plowing about 15" of snow. All was going fine until I mismanaged the clutch and stalled her out. So I thought a restart would get me back in the game again. With the evil gods always looking to stick something into me, that restart never worked. I first uncapped the fuel manifold Schrader valve pushed the pin and saw fuel, therefore no fuel problem. Something told me to replace the automatic shutdown relay in the power distribution center. I did and it started right up. Did my clutch mismanagement and stall have anything to do with the failure of that relay I will never know ( you would have to ask the evil gods who are always looking to stick something into me) My basic post is this; Just like you keep spare fuses I don't think many keep spare relays. When things fail they usually fail in the most inopportune times when parts stores are closed. There was snow blowing down my back and I was cursing anyone and everything. Not a good troubleshooting environment but a great revival of curse words and statements I have learned in the fifties. What Im really trying to state is this; Keep spare relays like you keep fuses. Yeah . they are about $20 bucks each. But when the wind and snow is blowing is blowing down your neck and you are cursing anything and everything. This just makes troubleshooting so much quicker. I would recommend having spare relays for the following;automatic shut down, fuel pump and engine starter motor relays the rest are basically irrelevant to getting you going again. Yeah they are $20 each but when you are in dire straits and have run out of curse words that initial cost would be easily forgotten about. Thanks guys and gals for all the help you gave me in the past. Good luck to all of you. Old age comes fast, enjoy every day like the special gift that it really is.
