lol, 12yr old girls are vicious. The other dad just bought his first jeep a 2022 JL, and at 12 the girls don’t really want the dads hanging around so never spent much time hanging out, but yesterday I got to make a new friend and future trail buddy.

I'm thinking about the area where I grew up. If you were caught messing with someone's vehicle without permission, you'd likely get your ass handed to you in short order.
I feel like someone posted a photo here where a stranger "ducked" their Jeep on the dash. Pretty bold move for a stranger.
In a related story, I read somewhere a few months ago where self-proclaimed "climate change warriors" have been going around removing the guts from parked Jeep and SUV valve stems or jamming beans in the stem to deflate the tires slowly, then they leave a note informing the owners that their vehicles kill. They claim to be doing this since the governments aren't doing enough to remove these vehicles from the roads. This trend apparently started in the UK and has since migrated to our shores here in the US. Now, I don't know about you folks, but if I caught someone messing with my vehicle like that, I might be inclined to stomp 'em like a narc at a biker rally...and ask questions later. You walk a knife edge messing with other's property without permission and I think it will only be a matter of time until one of these idiots gets caught and beaten, or worse.
Same, grew up in Chicago. 12yr old girls also aren’t subtle so we let them have their fun.
While they maybe considered a menace to their parents or neighbors at the moment, I'm sure they aren't a menace to society...

It really varies!!! My local mechanic charged me for 4hrs of labor and oil change. I brought him the parts. Parts were like $100, and the shop charged me about $550. I contacted about 6 jeep dealers near me, and they all wanted between $1200-1500. They said labor alone was about $800!!! Id recommed avoiding the dealer and finding a good local mechanic if you dont want to do it yourself. I just didnt have the time
Balmy 32F meant I got a chance to work on the jeep's list of items it needs to pass inspection. Got the driver's side shocks replaced. Still need to do the passenger's side but I ran out sunlight and the temp dropped about 10 degrees. Once Shocks are replaced it will go over to my mechanic for frame rust repair and a leaking rear axle. He will be swapping the rotors (second time in 2 years grrr) since they are too rusted to pass.
Need to do something this summer to keep moisture level down in the shelter. Thinking about putting a layer of driveway gravel then Tractor Supply Stall mats to keep moisture from the soil from coming through and rusting away the jeep.

Made zero progress on anything today, instead accidentally smashed my rear window of my hardtop.
Taking a break from that bronco transmission to work on my daughter's jeep which is now immobile for 3 different reasons. Trans is currently out awaiting a new pump, brakes are loosened awaiting a new master cylinder, and now the Pittman arm is off in preparation for the redhead steering gear.
I used the mack daddy pitman arm puller as recommended by someone here a while back. The instructions involve whacking it with a sledgehammer, and let me tell you I really had to whack it to get it to come free, even after using a breaker bar on bolt that drives the press. The press needed a 1-1/16" socket, and the Pittman arm took a 33mm, although it had a little more slop than I would have liked. It came off without any effort using the impac, but if it hadn't I might have searched harder for the exact fit.. I have a 1-5/16" socket (and matching box wrench from when I did this same project on my CJ like 10 years back), which is 33.34 mm and obviously had a little more slop.
I'm not really ready to tackle the steering box, but I had rented the $105 tool from autozone back when I thought I was ready, but today I decided I was tired of floating that loan.

Replaced the hood latches and all of the flares. Made a big difference to the appearance! Andy
