I just bought the polks because crutchfield had a sale on them that ended tomorrow so well see how that works. Will keep updated on how it sounds.
See I wish I could install a sub but I havnt found one that works for my setup. I have a maxbuilt center console so thats a no there. I have a toolbox mounted behind the back seat. Do you have pictures how you mounted yours in the rear seat?

Your Excelon head unit is a good one...
An amp will help - and the Excelons have powered rca outputs with added voltage if you use them
There are plenty of marine rated amps out there too- and not that expensive. Mine is mounted behind the lower dash panel under the steering wheel
unclean power/clipping can damage speakers.... so if u are cranking the volume all the way - that can be hard on speakers...
Your Excelon may be overprocessing / clipping early.. it has so many sound enhancements built in- you may want to clear them all — and try it tuned with just the basics

How do I go in and clear the radio?
That looks really good!! I will more than likely end up going with that down the road!! Does that sub have a build in amp or did you put one in?
Update Crutchfield is the best company ever! I ordered my Polks yesterday and they are already being delivered today! That is with free shipping as well! Will be installing tonight!
It is a powered sub. Hook up the cables and go. Plus it is thin so it fit easily inside the seat.
What speakers are good for listening to music with very little bass I do not listen to that rap crap and don't need a ton of bass because basically if it was made after 1989 it's not worth listening to
Rob, do you notice a difference in the sound of that sub if the seat is upright or flipped and folded?
Just get some Polk DB's and go ding, ding, ding down the highway hearing mostly road noise then. The cello makes bass tones and it was definitely before 1989. You are missing elements the artists put in their music. Getting speakers with larger diameter cones and magnets is to hear the full range of music written by the compose, not to bump.
I haven't run it with the seat up. I am sure it would lose some punch compared to facing the floor.
All music can benefit from a sub, not just rap. If whatever you listen to has a bass drum or some good bass guitar licks, it can use a sub.
