Oh, I agree. My local state congress women is trying to get the launch permit fee abolished, but it's not getting much traction.

I'm finding myself more and more often thinking about what if I stop paying some of these fees. If I get caught after a few years, the fine may be cheaper. I refuse to pay the parking meters in town, and believe I'm ahead of the game.

I don't know the exact parking fee, but the meters take nickels, and the fine is about $5. IMO, they collect enough in parking fees to cover the salary of the meter maid.

I haven't bothered with a permit for my inflatable paddle board yet. If I get busted I might to avoid paying the fine twice.

I'm OK with paying parking meters for busy places that I almost never go. But a fee just to float is a bridge too far.
