That was the North Oregon Coast, one of my favorite places. Though we did the Olympic Peninsula trip earlier this month! Kalaloch Beach to the Hoh Rainforest. It is magic up here thats for sure...however I would love to check out Cali at some point and see the Big Sur coast.
I camped at Mosport in October to take in the year end races. I was on my own and it rained all weekend. I pretty much could have had any campsite I wanted.
I find the less people the better. Usually more relaxing. I am going out this weekend, so I should be able to update this page when I get back next week.
Still my favourite series! You could hear the F1 cars coming long before you could see them. Better still were the Can-Am cars because you could FEEL them coming! 1970 was the year that Bruce McLaren was killed while testing at Goodwood. It was less than a few weeks before the race at Mosport and you'll recall that it was pretty sad. I've been going to Mosport since 1968 and have only missed a few years. The changes to the facilities during that time have been incredible. I drove around it last weekend. It's still referred to as one of the most technical tracks in the world.

Agreed. At the races I always got the pit pass and would be there at 6am as the teams arrived to tune, rebuild, practice. I was in school back during Can Am Series and I'd be at the track 14 hours a day. Always with a camera.
Right after Bruce died, I remember Denny Hulme racing with both hands still bandaged from the burns in a previous accident.

Just got back from Cinders OHV Park. It is a Off Highway Vehicle park about 11 milesnorth of Flagstaff, Arizona. It is the first time I have been there. It was really fun, there is miles and miles of wheelin, and riding. Everything from trails, to open areas, to serious hill climbs. The ground is like tiny black gravel, with no hard bottom. It is kind of like really thick sand. It is really dusty, but seriously a lot of fun. I can't really describe it, but it is actual lava rock that has been run over for years and years.

I took a 4 day weekend to take it all in, and it turns out I didn't even scratch the surface.

Just got my tent and trying to get set for the Sept Jamboree in Ouray. As AC said it is hot (106) in Tucson so camping involves going up a mountain. Here in the south though I have less people to contend with.
I do like how each if us define camping and really like Billiebob's setup.

We go to the same place every year on, or right after the 4th of July! Getting excited. Lots of trails. Day rides, night rides, creek/river rides, telling lies around the fire, cocktails, etc...
Do you guys remember the Chaparral cars? One had a moveable rear wing and another had skirting around the car with a vacuum system to hold it to the road. Another favorite was an Elf car with 4 front wheels. Awesome era in road racing.
Sorry for the late reply. Mine is a Warbonnet Ridgerunner model that has two spreader bars so you aren't squeezed. This design allows the hanging strap to split into two running along the sides until they join again after the other spreader bar. The two side straps allow them to make the fabric sides to be arched like the straps. Hard to describe. Think of it like a suspension bridge with two suspension cables on each side and different length side cables allowing for a flat roadway. The roadway is the flat sleeping area. In the factory picture below, the bulge by his shoulder is a pouch for gear not the "bed" area sagging. I sleep great especially with the included mosquito netting that zips onto the hammock.
