What did you do to your TJ today?

I guess it’ll never end until I die, and I’m pretty sure someone will slip a ‘to-do list’ with me in the coffin when that day comes.

Anyway, wife says, “I like the new bumpers, but will we be able to open the tailgate a bit more?”

WHAT?!

Sure enough, the pivot bolt setup provided with the bumper sits too tall for the hinge to clear it! 🤬

Solution; product redesign!
Chamfered the washer and replaced the bolt w/ a countersink version… problem solved.

Picked up this beauty today for $650cdn. IMG_0380.webp

Is the flat Rough Country mount plate on Amazon ($100) adequate? Or am I better to invest in something more solid? In the rainforest of the wet coast am I wise to put the controller box in the engine bay? I do have a neoprene cover.

Still working on the windshield swap - ordered an air hammer today.

I think that's what I installed. Wish I had ordered an aluminum one.

Yes relocate the controller to under the hood. There's just enough space for the contractor in front of the air box horn. I also wired in a dash switch and bought a cheap Amazon remote.

Don't forget your Wizard Recovery Gear synthetic rope and soft shackles.

Ok, so I had to wait an extra day. LOL

I went out yesterday with the intention of driving it to the store, and with the sun shining on it, I quickly saw that I need to do some evictions first. LOL That and give it an all around bath because the windows were really bad.

Gave it a bath yesterday afternoon and today I took it for a short drive to the gas station.

This is just ridiculous.

When it is going down the road, the pressure gauge is just above the 40.By the time I got home (maybe about a 10 mile trip to and from gas station), it idles just below the first line. See pic.

So far it isn't going down to the 0, but time will tell. I will know more after I drive it to work and back sometime next week.

That might actually be pretty normal. Around 40 psi at running speed is normal.
I retired from the ExxonMobil refinery in Beaumont, Texas & we had instruments that cost over $1,500.00 that STILL needed to be zeroed & calibrated by instrumentation techs so automotive gauges could easily be off a bit. If you’re showing good pressure at normal speed & there are no unusual noises you’re Oak.

My dad drag raced (non RuPaul version) cars in Lebanon Valley NY when I was a kid and was undefeated. That's where I think I got my love to race (motocross for me). He told me that when the engine blew in his Yugo, it was easier to swap the engine than find parts.

It probably was - Yugo didn't end well, at least in the US. I saw plenty of them in Greece back in the early aughts.

Replaced the steering gear and pump (both Lares units) and the pressure line. Everyone got new hardware thanks to Region offroad.
The huge vague spot in the center of the steering is gone and it doesn't randomly dart right or left anymore so I'm going to call it a success.
left alignment and tool cleaning for tomorrow

Today was rear, lower shock bolt day.

Wouldn’t you know it, the sleeves in the lower eyelets on the new RX9000 will not allow the original bolt to pass through.

NBD, right? Just get smaller diameter bolts that do fit… except doing that will mean the entire lower eyelets assembly would be able to shift in the lower mount under load.
Thats bad because it will end up wallowing out the holes in the mount.

I decided the drill out the sleeves to allow the original bolts to work.
What a pain in the ass just to drill out .04”

Test drive worked out, but the fronts are waiting for another day.

There he is - living up to requirements we WTJF have levied upon him!

But then I can't help but wonder...
