Which Jeep Wrangler TJ mods are a waste of money?

KC, where did you buys those louvers by the way? I like it, might buy them for my black rig..
I was reading an old thread on hood vents/louvres. One post had this generic link to louvres on eBay so I click it, and there they are, stone white even. I impulse bought them on the spot $120 even tho they are used and have 2 chips.
All I know is the Grand Cherokees had them 1 year only from the factory...
I'm sorry I wouldn't know where to specifically look

Mine were $20 at the junk yard from a 1998 5.9L Grand Cherokee.

@jjvw. do you get many compliments on your hood louvres, or do unobservant peeps just look past them ??
Very few specifically notice them. But I do think the GC louvers subtley add to overall presence of the Jeep. That's what I like about having an unassuming factory part.

They actually look pretty good when they are the same color as the hood. How was the install? Where did you get them?

I never considered vents until I saw this thread. Its a good idea to keep engine bays cooler but I may actually need them or actual engine cooling lol

I bought a front hitch and cargo carrier and I plan to carry a decently sized cooler right in front of the grill. It will be more than a foot away so air will easily flow around the cooler but not be forced into the grill. I wonder if adding vents will allow for better natural airflow kinda like a venturi effect. I will still monitor my temps and it may be that the fan and highway speeds will be enough but I am already thinking ahead.

Your bumper cooler will likely have little to no effect on the engine cooling system.

The install probably took me 8 hours or so working slow. I'm not a fabricator but I slowly got these mounted. I used a common hand held sheet metal shears

I used the hood rubbers as a reference guide once I decided where to position them. Took painters tape and used it to assist with reference marks
The hood metal is stout. I was surprised I was able to cut using my old sheet metal hand cutter

Thanks for the info! I will monitor my temp and if I notice my fan running more than usual I might get some myself
